Did you watch the Daytona 500?

OK, so NASCAR is not the most popular car racing sport here. But, did you watch it anyway? I did. It was a great race.

The winner was Dale Earnhardt Jr. who did a great job racing. The President was there, Leann Rymes sang the National Anthym, and looked like a 100% lush. I guess too much money, too fast.
Since it was a restricter plate race it had a great car crash, as always. Took out 12 cars, and one of them flip end over end, kicking up a lot of soaked earth. The driver was fine.

Well, what did you guys, who watched it, think of the greatest all American car racing event?

I watched it. I think it had it's moments, yeah (we got to see someone else tear ass down pit lane again)
Overall, I'd say there's been more exciting Daytonas though. Heck last year's was a joke, even more so in comparison to the first race at Darlington, with Kurt Busch and Ricky Craven bumping and banging down the front stretch en route to the checkers.

There will be other races this year that'll put the Daytona to shame, bet on it. As for Dale Jr. winning, well you kind of could see that coming, seeing as how DEI cars are the only ones with true dominance at restrictor plate races.

Yep, as it usually is, after "The Big One." The problem is the wreck takes out so many cars, cars that could reach the leaders during the race. The wreck usually happens in the middle of the pack. The leaders don't crash, and the laggers usually drive right through it untouched. Now, you have the leaders in one pack, and the laggers in another. And the laggers never catch up to the leaders because of the limited power of the cars.

Well, at least they tried to make the race more exciting by using a softer tire compound.

They are making it more appealing with the new season format. I'll never watch more than a lap of it, but I would like to see who wins at the end of the year.

I like some motorsport, but I cant, for the life of me, understand how anyone extracts joy from watching 40 cars take a thousand left turns each. But hey, I watch baseball games.

*gack!*

I watched it. From the beginning up till the Big Crash, it was pretty exciting, but after that nothing much happened. Earnhardt's burnout was depressing though... does he not realize that asphalt is a lot better at making smoke than grass?!

I loved Kevin Harvick's comments: "That was a boring race..." Which it was. Can't believe some people actually watched the thing from start to finish. Yawn.

[sarcasm]I liked that pass for the lead... Stewart's got Busch and Wimmer up his ass, and yet Jr gets by with no help whatsoever. Just... odd.[/sarcasm]

His papa did it on the grass 6 years ago. So, it was sort of a tribute to his papa.

The race was fun for me, but it got boring after the crash, which is why I don't watch it in real time, and was able to fast forward through the boring part. It was also nice to see it, for the first time, in HDTV, too.

Wouldve liked to have watched it, if the race was televised here, we get the Superbowl, but no Daytona go figure

Do you get other NASCAR racing events?

If not, I understand. This race is too American, I think. All American cars, all American drivers, teams, sponsers, etc...

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is, I was watching the shoot out the other week and I think the actual race is on this week end!

Yeah, well its good if you have Pay-Tv but I dont :(
