Yeah its a stupid and disgusting habit.

I actually agree with YW, first time for everything I guess.

I'm not sure why your head hurt. But tobbaco is bad news in every form. So I would just leave it alone. We have enough health problems without self inducing tongue, mouth and throat cancer.

Don't worry just about the cancer, your gums will start rotting and you'll also have a "pit" where you keep the chew in your mouth. In later years it'll be like you have a never ending sore throat. It just doesn't make sense to do it. Best of luck to you in your decision. 👍

I chewed/dipped practically non-stop for 16 years. The only time I would stop chewing was to start smoking. Chewing is the hardest addiction to quit. It is compared to heroin addiction. My daily routine would be:

*wake up.
*put a chew in
*shower
*Spit out the chew long enough to eat and brush teeth
*put chew in - leave in until lunch adding new chew as necessary.
*spit out chew long enough to each lunch (sometimes I would even leave it in during lunch)
*put chew in - leave in until dinner adding new chew as necessary.
*spit out chew long enough to eat dinner (sometimes I would even leave it in during dinner)
*put chew in - leave in until bed time adding new chew as necessary
*spit out chew long enough to sleep (sometimes I would even leave it in during my nightly rest)

Trying to quit chewing was the hardest friggin' thing I have ever done in my entire life. Once you get going on it, your entire life WILL revolve around it.

I have happy to say I have been tobacco free for about 3 years now.

Check out this Google search for some pics of oral cancer from chewing tobacco.

Wow Pako, that sounds really serious. Glad your were able to break the hold!

It was really hard, like I said....quiting was the hardest thing I had ever tried to do. After many attempts at trying to quit on my own, I finally asked for help.

The real danger comes from Double Dipping , of course :sly:

Totally gross. Just don't do it. You're an idiot if you get addicted to something you KNOW about, and exactly what it does to you. Would you pick up a gun and play Russian Roulette? Same thing.

The tobacco makes tiny cuts in your gums. That's how the nicotene gets absorbed into your bloodstream without you inhaling or swallowing anything.

I'm glad you decided not to do it anymore. After working at a grocery stores, amusment parks, and movie theaters during high school and college I can tell you the number of spit cups/bottles I picked up was disgusting. Nothing like a cup full of someone elses brown spit to make your day.

Thats what it looks like tiny cuts.I only did it all day yesterday just to see what it is like. I rather spit sunflower seeds that dip any day!

One more thing Pako why did you quiet?

I quit for a few a reasons.

1.) Cost was getting ridiculous. I think a can up here is just over $6/can. That's over $2200 a year spent on it.
2.) I was starting to look at my own mortality realizing that I wasn't getting any younger. Thinking of my loved ones, I want to be alive as long as I can to be a part of their lives.
3.)Finally, I didn't want the tobacco to control my life any longer. When I didn't have a chew, thinking about it consumed my every thought. I was worthless without it and I just got sick of having to depend on the chew to get me through the day.
