I love time trails! Competing against the fastest gamers in the world is a blast, not to mention challenging!

My favorite is the Pro, Open and Trail Blazer classes.

I was addicted to F1 2010 time trails and now Dirt 3 is going to take over my life!

Anyone else who loves the online time trials?

Yeah I enjoy that slightly more than multiplayer races. I tryed one time trial so far, and I did very well. Unfortunately my copy which I have borrowed from my local video store had no VIP code, so my time wasn`t put on the leaderboard.
But this online time trial could be a final argument to buy Dirt 3.

Thats odd. I'm on ps3 and I can't put my VIP code in either, becasue PSN is down, but my name still shows up on the leader board. It always takes a while to update though.

This is on 360. 10 attempts so far, this is my best:

I'm losing a lot of time in section behind the containers just before the end :(

No, I noticed that, but it was on. There's no way I could get enough sensitivity with a pad to not use it.

Same here. Also stage records from friends show up in your lists and also in the news section. So I guess the leaderboard is using the Codemasters servers and not the PSN service.

Well guys I hate to say it but the Rally cross TT stuff that post to the World Board is going to be something that I'm going to dominate on :). I wish you all the best but I think the world is in trouble because this stuff is my playground. I just watched Little Lefty shoot up to 42nd in about 10 min. on one of the Monico tracks. The Smelter area is my kind of traction and layout. I haven't had this feeling since I dominated almost half of all the tracks in the PC based game called "SODA". It's going to be a challenge but the odds are in my favor IMHO 👍

I was into TT until I saw the WR take a nice wall ride on the outside of the track of the barricades on LA Coliseum lol ridiculous.

I dont like how your PR's dont update right away :( you have to wait to brag lol

Oh yah  I have also seen those creative lines and I just look at them as giant MX burms.

Yah the update BS sukz but it eventualy happens so it's not that big of a deal. I think the game is made for the fun factor and not a purest enviroment like GT5.

Agreed. Im more into getting the fastest time in a certain car rather than overall. BUT CM decided not at add a filter feature again, so its rather annoying scrolling to find that information lol

Time Trials are practically ruined already on the PC. There is some glitch that is letting people finish in a matter of seconds. I was doing some of the Gymkhana challenges last night and the WRs were 3 and 4 seconds. I really hope this is fixed soon as I also enjoy TT.

Perhaps we could put together a thread for GTP WR's? I would be happy to put that together.

Then shall I ban PC players from the TT I'm wanting to host? :P

Let me go through the leaderboards for PC and see if there is a clean distinction between the glitchers and the real times. If it's obvious, then there would be no reason to not include PC players. From what I saw, glitchers were under 10 sec on a 50 sec course ... but I didn't look for the split between the times.

There are always glitches. Patching them up will only lead to players finding and abusing other glitches. Or have you forgotten the GT Academy episode? True, setting the fastest time on DIRT 3's leaderboards will not win you the chance to be a real racing driver, but that's not going to stop people. For as long as there have been video games, there have been cheaters. I remember setting a fast time in the original COLIN McRAE RALLY on one of the Monte Carlo stages that I was convinced had to be the fastest time in the world (I was twelve at the time). I got the code and entered it online and was very disappointed to see that people were doing the stage in a matter of seconds, and I couldn't figure out how (because, being twelve years old, it seemed really important to have my name on the leaderboards). And this was in 1998.

Interludes, I understand where you're coming from, but I do not agree.

If there is going to be a leaderboard at all, then the developer should make an effort to keep the times on that leaderboard accurate. If it was a few seconds that's one thing ... but being able to just slingshot to the finish of a stage that supposedly requires specific tricks to be completed in order and in specific locations is absurd. It's a glaring error on the part of the developer.

Saying "just accept it" is not the answer in this case. If the leaderboard are corrupted, they may as well not exist.

And I know I'm not the fastest driver so I have no delusions of holding WRs. I do however enjoy TT competition. These glitches take away that enjoyment.

I honestly don't know if these times are achieved intentionally or by accident due to some error while playing.

It takes quite a while to update the times. Granted, its has probably been beat by now, but I set 4 WR's in a row (Every lap i was faster lol) But i forgot to look right after and I never could find where I was lol
Next I was actually tackling WR times on a track and car set that were legit, my time was technically 4th, but even after an hour it still did not update lol

In case anyone may not know, if you use flashbacks during the Dirt Tour events, they add to your time on the leaderboard. I don't know exactly how much time they add and I don't know if it's fixed or based on how far you rewind, but it does add time.

Yes, I've noticed that too. At first I thought that my times just weren't being added to the leaderboard which was kind of annoying, but roughly 24 hours later I discovered that my times were finally up. I haven't done many Time Trials myself, but my best position so far is 34th - Sainte-Devote - Rallycross.

I noticed this as well.

Curious to know if the flash back feature (penalty?) effects your overall time recorded on the leaderboards.

BTW, I looked over some of the leaderboards for the PC and there isn't a clear line between glitched times and real times. There is a point where a significant time falloff begins, but for the first 3 or 4 times on the downward slope there is no way to really know if it was glitched or not.

Basically, times fall by tenths and hundredths to a point, then they begin to fall by a few seconds each and plummet to the single digits over about 25 positions.

So, if you think that is reason enough to not include the PC players in a time attack listing, I understand. However, you could also choose to trust the times of board members. I feel like most people here would get more satisfaction from actually besting a time than glitching.

Your call. Personally, I'd like to compete and I'm on PC.

I'm pretty sure it does. I was doing some of the Gymkhana time attacks and noticed that my PBs listed on the leaderboard were way off from my platinum times in Dirt Tour. Specifically on the 3rd Gymkhana trial. I remember that I had used a flashback to get platinum on that one.

My guess is that it adds the amount of time that you rewind. So, if you finish with a 50 second run in Dirt Tour but flash back 10 seconds one time, you will have a time of 60 seconds on the leaderboard.

Just sent one of the primary cheaters a message. What sad people.

So modest, too.
