Disappearing Taskbar icons

I recently reformatted my computer(yesterday actually), and today my system has decided to hose itself. My problem is, all of my taskbar system tray icons have disappeared. Now, most of them were startup items, such as Norton Antivirus and Personal Firewall, but even when I launch Winamp 5 I cannot see it's icon.

What caused this is I had "My Computer" open and after trying to access a cd in my cd-rom drive, everything locked up and Windows Explorer crashed. It came back like it usually does after a crash and I proceeded to reboot thinking my icons would reappear only to find out that they won't.

Is there any way that I can force Windows XP Pro to reset the taskbar and give me my icons back? The programs are running in the background and I have checked through my task manager. This is the first time that Windows Explorer has crashed and my icons have not returned.

Nevermind... Creating a new user account seems to have solved my problem. It is extremely odd for this to have happened. I didn't lose anything since everthing is backed up. I just have to reset all of my preferences in my programs.
