Disc read error

I have started playing GT2 again, I plan on beating it this time. I have a problem, though. When I put the simulation mode disc in the game, it says "Disc Read Error" on the PS2. I put the arcade mode disc in, and oddly, it worked. So I am wondering why the sim mode disc will not work? I've tried cleaning the disc, cleaning vents in the PS2, yet it still will not work.

Could be tending towards a full blown DRE problem. It sounds like it's either having trouble with some CD-based games - in which case, open the bugger up and clean the lens with some IMS (or Vodka, at a push) - or your Sim Mode disc has a fingerprint on it... :D

Perhaps this relates to your No Name No Name problems, too.

Edit: Oops. Different posters with different problems.... Sorry.

I never thought of that. It might just be related to that. If that's the case, I don't think there's much hope of fixing it. I'll do what I can, though.

Aye, but a used copies of GT2 ought to be floating around the game stores 'round the world...you can even buy them new for $10, if you find a department store big enough.

Vodka a la Gran Turismo? If I open a bar one day, I'll be sure to a give a drink that title! Any ideas what should go in it?

Something blue and something red, in layers...

I.e., from the top down, a layer of blue then a layer of red, and finally the layer of vodka. Serve layered/unstirred. (Obviously?)
