So I had been wondering, How the hell can i get my front tires to operating temperature during the parade lap. I knew to set the TCS to 1 and burn the rear tires to get them warm but i still hadn't found a way to get the front ones to warm even with vigorous swerving from side to side. So i went and spent about half an hour in a time trial session trying to figure out how to get them front tires warm, low and behold the point of this post! So what i found out, is that on at least the first TCS setting (havn't checked the others yet) you put the car in 1st gear then get going and then apply around half to 3/4 breaks. This will lock up the front tires and their temperature will start rising immediately! Do this and swerve back and forth to get the most increase in temperature. The rear tires temperature will also rise, but there is a catch! Do this for too long and your engine will take damage... so I've been using it around the last corner of whatever track im racing on and the tires are warmer than everybody elses which gives you a nice advantage when you go screaming into the first corner! But yeah, just watch your engine temp because if you do it for too long you WILL blow your engine... enjoy faster starts!

Nice little tip Cheef. Thanks for writing it up. Still not certain it'll get me to participate in the parade lap, but it's always good to have options.

Should I assume the technique does not work with an automatic transmission though?

Cant imagine it not working with automatic... But remember, that if you want to use live dynamics, you need to exit all the way to the main options menu and make sure that your controller config. has live dynamics... Best to put both the brake and TCS on the 1 setting when using this technique...

Another method which can be tricky as you battle with AI trying to semi control your car is too catch the front wheels on the grass going around corners.

I was struggling for front tyre heat at sepang but found going off for a few seconds put about 30c into the rubber.

If you don't do the parade lap then your tyres are significantly warmer because no matter what they always drop to below 20. Do the quali then start no parade and by the end of the second turn they seem to be green.👍

Yeah thats true if your starting up front but if you start last, I often did to make the race more fun, you can warm your tyres perfectly then drop way back through the final corner leave everyone else sitting on the grid for ages and when you start your tyres will be far warmer than everyone elses. Also to warm the front tyres up lock the front tyres up on the last corner of the parade lap, just hold the brakes and floor the trottle.
Although I dont really try to warm my tyres much anymore I usually run a long first stint and if you warm the tyres too much you lose all grip very early in the stint.

Old Schumi trick is to turn off TCS during P lap but also crank all braking onto the fronts. If you're blessed with a 1080 wheel (urggg!) weaving is not as effective. Don't forget to reset Brakes and tcs or you'll have Mr. Toads will ride! I also modify TCS for soft start on first lap and then tighten up on lap 2 and beyond.

Great! I was fearing that it wouldn't and I use automatic gears. I'll try it out.

Now that I'm racing in career hard mode I use this technique religiously for the PL. One little tweak I've added though is to regularly "tap-tap-tap" the breaks at slower speeds (like 100 kph or so) rather than wait til the last few corners and "slam" on the breaks from a high speed. I find the lower speed "tap-tap-tap" does a better job of evenly heating up all four corners. However using this method one has to be careful to not spin the rears when accelerating as that will add temp only to the rears and kind of ruin the method. As a side note, noted in my career setups, my break balance is always 77/23.

hmm, i'll leave it to you experts but afaik that sounds like a bug, there's no way that that should lead to any heating, but rather loosing heat. (as grass/sand will always be relativly colder then the tarmac itself.

But if it works, it works, too risky for me though, i better try to keep on the track
