Hello everyone !

@SlipZtrEm I did not know where to put this thread. Hope I did the right thing by putting it here.

Recently, I had the idea of a new competition. Basically the idea is not new, but I think it will be interesting to try.

In general, it's simple.

Pimp my pic  Week 0

To begin, we will set the deadline. Someone(Host), well let's say I will put a link to a photo and a small preview. Then everyone wishing to participate download this image and process it and then post their edits (on the similarity of 2.0 competition). After deadline the host creates a new thread for a voting and after the results of the voting we will select 2 winners. Most votes and Judje's choice(week 1). The winner becomes a judge for the next week. Judge sends his photo to a host, selects, for example, 10 or 15 best edits for poll and chooses the second winner in the category "judge's choice".

I would like to hear your opinion whether is it interesting to you, about the rules that need to be set and other things. In general, I want to know everything. :) Also, we need someone who will host this competition. Unfortunately, I can't do it for many reasons, especially in recent times. If only @Nato_777 became interested in this and he agreed to hold this event it would be just a limit of my dreams :nervous:

Looking forward to your comments and suggestions. I am very interested to know your opinion.

That is a really good idea actually. I think it would be really fun to be the guy who submits the unedited photo to see what comes out of it! Very fun idea! I wholeheartedly support this!

Well, I was waiting until after the tournaments had finished and then I was going to check again to see if there would be enough support to bring back the 3.0 unlimited competition.
I would be willing to host one more comp so if there were a preference for this competition idea over the 3.0 edit I could do it. If there's a desire for both this and 3.0 then I would only be able to host one or the other and more likely the 3.0 edit.

To be fully fair i'd rather have the 3.0 than this. It's a good idea, don't get me wrong, but it kind of takes away the fun of shooting for yourself.

Great idea! I would like to take part. Like 👍
Thanks for comments, guys ! Glad you like this idea !

Thanks for comment ! Great news :) To be honest, I also would have preferred 3.0  Knowing that you will again host 3.0 competition I just can't ask you to host this one too.

Thanks for comment ! As I said, I also would have preferred 3.0, but as I understand in this case we don't have to choose between 3.0 and this one. We just need to find someone who will host this competition.
Let's simply start a test to see if it is worth it. Maybe not as a real comp with a poll, first just as a training lap?
Thanks for comment Raphaele ! Absolutely agree with you  It is necessary to discuss the rules and it is desirable to find a host. I certainly can host "training lap", but I'm not sure for real competition :)

Yeah sorry I should have mentioned in my post - but at 2:37am I guess I wasn't exactly running on all cylinders.
I would like to see how this would go, especially as it's something quite different to the usual comps - I just can't see myself hosting both. Happy to help out anyone that does with any advice etc, though. :)

I have already learned my mistake by hosting the DC comps... Although, there is only one of those now, and i did plan on hosting two...

Thank you all for your feedback  As I understand it will be interesting to try. I will prepare a list of possible rules in the near future and I would like to know your opinion about rules.

The problem lies in the fact that I would like to create a competition that is suitable for people with different levels of skills. In other words, we need something in between 2.0 and 3.0 rules or even something close to 3.0 with various restrictions.

Would like to hear some suggestions from you :)

You are right, I would think something a little more expansive than 2.0 rules too as they are a little restrictive when all editing the same image, all the entries would be very similar so you would need rules to allow a little more creative licence. ;)

Maybe an all out "outlaw" competition. One is allowed to use all kinds of methods like combining different pictures etc as long as the original is the main component in the final product. If one goes too far he's likely not getting votes.. :embarrassed:

More in the area of digital art than just editing, but also to enable some heavy modification/ virtual tuning.

Editing would take a "pooload" of time thou..:guilty:

I suggest to allow adding elements from outside GT6 such as product logos to create liveries.
I agree - but not to the extent in the old GT5 3.0 comps where whole front and rear ends of cars were pasted on rather than the painstaking process of sorting out each decal.

I was also thinking of that grey area between 2.0 and 3.0 - what about permitting Ilya's textures? It kind of falls between 'layer-blend-modes' and 'including images outside of GT6' If they were the only images allowed along with Raph's suggestion for logos then I think we are some way between 2.0 and 3.0 possibly...

That is what I was thinking too, being able to use textures and lens flares and able to use selective colour editing for creating racing stripes/liveries but not actual cut 'n paste from other images.

Whereas for the 3.0 comp when it returns I would like to see virtually unrestricted editing.

Yes it's like a professional version of the edit my photo thread. Can't wait!

I'm liking this better with all the fresh ideas in the mix. If there's a lot of creative freedom, i'm definitely in

Nice ideas ,.. but i would be interested into this :

A competition where all racing games are allowed with no rules or what so ever , of course similar to the Gt6 competition with a theme and so on but any racing game is allowed i guess that would be more colourful :sly:

cheers

The problem with that though is a lot of people will vote for any next gen game just because they think it's awesome without even studying the pictures.

How can GT6 compete with the new PS4 games without someone spending hours and hours editing something to bring the quality up to the same level as say Drive Club.

I for one would never enter a GT6 picture so it can be up against the the newer titles....AND, in my opinion, this is supposed to be a Gran Turismo site.

Imagine there is a rain theme one week, the PS4/XBONE owners just go and shoot a good rain shot while the PS3 users have to spend 12 hours editing in every single rain drop...no thanks, it needs to be a level playing field with everyone starting from the same place.

I was thinking about what Lee said earlier - If we get 2 or 3 shots, then people choose what they want to edit. Then, it could be a head to head with each photo getting its own poll. Next, the winners from all three rounds face off in a final poll to decide the winner. Just my thoughts though :) 👍

if i compare the gt6 work of shaolinmasta or gtuned or you leeislee with any ps4 game ... i would vote for you ...

was just an idea :D

Maybe each week there is a choice of 2 or 3 pictures to edit, at least that will prevent a load of almost identical images?

Just a thought :)

That is certainly a novel idea and would make things much more interesting. I like it. 👍

Not sure what @ShaolinMasta had in mind for the judge's choice winner to do (in the old GT5 PhotoShop comp the judge's choice got to choose what type of week it was, Graphics or Manipulation), it could be possible if we went with mulitple photos that judge's choice supplies one of the photos to be edited too.

That's an idea! If the winner of the previous week were to take three pictures each of a different type i.e Photo travel-still picture obviously, Racing-Still and Racing- Moving. Then as suggested by @GT_Racer22 the people competing choose which picture they would most like to edit.

I really like all these new ideas. More pictures ? Great ! I like it 👍 The idea with pictures from different games is not bad too. In these case all pictures should be from the same game. Let's say we can give a choice to the judge which week it will be (Driveclub, Forza, GT6, etc.). Still, I think we should stick to GT6. :)

About 2 winners. Not always, but it happens that the opinion of the judge and the majority of voters are different.
2nd place is more consolation prize, but like in the old GT5 photoshop competition, nothing prevents participant to receive both awards. In my opinion, some pictures, in addition to winning, deserve mention. Maybe we should distribute prize places(1st,2nd and 3rd).

Sorry for my English and huge thanks to everyone

I agree I think it should be limited to gt6, unless someone volunteers to do it on the other photo mode forums.
