Display flickering - possible solutions?

I own a HP G60-120US laptop that has Linux Mint installed on as the OS. However, since I installed the OS, I constantly have moments where the display would flicker, even when connected to a TV via VGA port.

According to my research, I have isolated the issue to a faulty driver that is trying to display in 1360 pixels wide, not 1366 that the monitor actually is. So I need to specify the driver to include the 6 extra pixels so that I can use the laptop properly. My question, I guess is what is the work around?

Do you have the GeForce 8200M card in it?

There's no "workaround" as such, whatever the card. The answer is to put the correct driver in.

EDIT II: Doesn't look like NVIDIA produce a driver with Linux support, your next port of call (if that's the card) might be at a Mint forum.
