display problem

I popped in gt4 into my ps3 for the first time today. I switched the display to 1080i. The image shows on the screen but does not fill the whole screen. I have the option set for 16:9 as well. I'm playing on a 42" plasma and the ps3 is hooked up via HDMI. Any suggestions?

Other then some basic stuff like checking the options in the PS3 with no game loaded and the options on the tv itself for display format on that input, some of those tv remember settings for specific inputs, otherwise they use the default one. I would guess that most people who visit this forums only have a PS2, that is about as specific I can get, having never seen a PS3 other then the box it comes in.

:/ hmmm. I'm at college and all I have is my roommates ps3. I suppose I will just have to be patient until I return home to the ps2.
