Do all cars damage equally, or are some more equal then others?

Do all cars damage similarly? I was drifting around autumn ring in a modded forester bangin walls and my bro's A3 and hardly any damage was sustained. Later, i coasted into the pit exit wall at grand valley at a leisurely 40kph in an rx7 (and a glancing blow at that), and the steering was noticibly affected.

I quite literally never have the damage on, but I do remember the RUF CTR2 Sport being easy to screw up. I say easy because it only took a couple shots; I have no basis for comparison.
