Do N type tires model RL tires?

First off let me apologize if I placed this in the wrong section of GTPlanet. If this is the case could one of the mods please move it to where I should have posted it?

Now to the subject of the poll. I have been testing the N type and S type tires, I know this may be a little late but till recently I have only been interested in the S and R type. Anyway I was using a Mazda 6 on N2’s as one test vehicle and managed to spin in a turn at 32mph. I know this is not a clear indicator but with other cars on N2’s I have had similar results. So my question is:

Do you feel N type tires more closely model RL tires?
Do you feel S type tires more closely model RL tires?
Do you feel neither one is close?

I decided to do this as a poll since this is a very subjective question and I wanted to avoid going into massive detail about “what kind of RL tires are you talking about”; or “what specific type of N and S tires are you talking about”? Just assume “general” is the nature of the question. Discussion is welcome but it is the poll results I want to focus on.

Woohoo, I was the first one to vote! The N1s are hellish to handle but N2s and N3s are pretty good.

Thank you for the link, I did a search before posting this thread and unfortunately I completely missed that thread. I will take the time to look through it and take stock of what was said, I would however still like to see the results of this poll.

I have read the thread you linked me to and I still can’t see an answer. In this thread I am not trying to compare the tires actual appearance to that of GT4, etc. I would like to see a purely subjective poll of how the tires “feel”. I understand the debate about performance and what a dealer would or would not equip is extremely important to reaching this conclusion, amongst other factors. This is why I decided to stress that the question was intended to be “general” or in other words “generic”. I would like to have of seen this thread develop into an open discussion but as was clearly pointed out in that thread there are simply too many factors to allow for a one-on-one comparison. As an added thought this is also why I picked the form of the question, as opposed to saying “are N1’s closer, are N2’s closer, etc.”

I would like to stick to this poll and see a consensus of some sort, if that is at all possible, minus the technical debate. I am not opposed to seeing the other thread develop a little more but I think it is pretty clear the focus was aimed at too much realism. It also appears clear that a precise definition of N1, N2, N3, S1, S2, and S3 are needed. I don’t think we can get to this point without PD’s input and I don’t see that ever happening.

Maybe this poll should be merged into that debate?
