Do the physics change in different online rooms?

I have noticed this problem for months now that the physics change in certain rooms in online. Like if a room has any of the Mic Chat setting on, then cars will have worse grip, prone to severe understeer or oversteer, and it might lag. And I also noticed that the same thing happens if you're in a room with the Race Quality setting set to three or less stars or less.

Now if you're in a room with five star quality, with a low mic setting, and a very good internet connection; then there would be no change in physics.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I have noticed it. I have no hard evidence but there have been times when your car will be great while practicing and when the race starts it handles a lot worse. I have seen it go the other way too where it's better when the race starts. Other players have reported this too. It was the same in GT5. I have also heard players report that car was handling great until they take the lead then the car is not as good. I don't know. Like I said, I have not done any hard testing on this. I do not have time for that. Just my thoughts though.

Anyone think it may have to do with the track temperature? I ran the ToCA qualifying in a slightly cloudy environment, so it was a cooler track, and had more grip than qualifying 2 in the sun, when my car tended to slip off of the line.

I did not think the track temp made any difference in the game. Maybe it does.

Does anyone know for sure? After all track temp and weather are spelled out at the beginning of the race. Obviously the more elements of reality are simulated the more realistic the simulation is experienced as - but the point that is brought up here is one that is really important: do the various settings (mic on/off, etc) affect the connection physics of the game?

Yes I have noticed that I am around 2 seconds slower online then when practicing offline but as of the last update the handling is inconsistent.I guess you could say I am losing grip but it changes from lap to lap.For instance I could be taking a corner that I know I can maintain 80 mph around but now I am having to slow down to 60 mph and the next lap I am maintaining 80 mph.I am not talking about the first lap where the tires have not warmed up yet.It will happen on lap 3 and 4 of a 5 lap race.
The same with braking points. We all have are favorite car that we can post consistent laps with and we have our braking points for every corner.Well when it happens I brake at my usual braking point and I am sliding off the road.Next lap I brake sooner then usual and I am stopping way short of the corner.Next lap it is back to normal.
Another issue I have noticed during seasonal time trials is I will get the gold in my first couple of laps and then I can't get within a couple seconds of that time no matter how many times I try.But if I shut the game off and go back and try it I will easily beat my time.
Also noticed that during practice before race handling is normal but once race is started the grip level is changing from lap to lap.

Thanks for the tip on the abs test.I will try it out. When you mentioned that the tires turn red instantly it brings another issue I have noticed. The rear wheels will spin and turn red instantly causing the rear end to sway back and forth and the tires wont cool until I near come to a stop.I would think that it was just me giving to much gas but it would happen on low hp cars that will barely spin the tires in first gear but I am spinning out in third gear.
The grip level seems to change from corner to corner on at least 2 laps of a 5 lap race.Ether I am over shooting corners flying off the track cause the car wont stop like it should or I am spinning out cause the rear tires are lighting up turning red instantly on a car that I cant make the rear tires spin if I tried but are all the sudden spinning in 3 gear like I am driving on ice..It makes no sense how a bad connection would cause a loss of grip but something is up with the game. Its not track temp or anything I am doing or having a bad day.One thing I have noticed is it does not happen to the host it seems but everyone else is experiencing inconsistent handling. Also it does not happen all the time.

Wow, I never noticed that either. All of that listed above ^, I agree with. Even on the first lap sometimes, the car will not turn when I lightly brake. I also don't use ABS. This doesn't happen everytime, either. And that 3rd Gear issue, I hate that so much. I will have way better traction in 1st and 2nd on a few cars, but when I hit 3rd, it's like the rear tires were made out of ice.

So is this happening to everyone or just some of us?I can think of a bunch of strange things happening during a race but it all boils down to inconsistent grip like one second I got racing soft tires and the next I got comfort soft.

It most likely happens to everyone. Just we can definitely see a difference since we can notice certain things whenever we drive. Like if your car has more understeer or oversteer from ths last time you drove it.

It happened in GT5 then PD released some update that made offline online a few months before GT5 went down.

So you never know...

I love GT5 and 6. Even though the game is really good, real cars do not handle like this. I have never had a car, truck, or van slide off the road at 40 - 60 mph. Nor do the tires make that awful screeching sound all the freaking time. I wish there was a engine sound volume and a tire screech volume setting so I could turn that screeching sound off or down. Can you imagine driving around and everybody's car was screeching like that.

So its just not me, I too felt something similar I even made a new thread about this. It's a little different in my case but nonetheless it is similar. I've quoted my OP of my thread to explain what is going on with my online experience. And now that I think of it voice chat was on for these lobbies I had problems in.

So I'm having a problem I don't know if its just me or what. The last few days my performance online in these lobbies with what I like to call arcade mode physics is taking a plunge. I normally race with all driving aids off including abs off and tire wear, fuel consumption, false start on. It is my understanding that with the "sim" features enabled I am about a second slower than offline time trial/test drive. But what I can not understand is why my cars suddenly feel very low grip and when I apply the brakes the cars just want to slide. The cars don't feel this way in the offline portion of the game where everything feels normal, say I am lapping Brands Hatch GP in a "full sim" online practice race I can get my 500pp Sports Soft NSX-R around the track in a 1:30.1, in offline time trial I can mange a 1:29.3, but in an online "arcade" race I'm struggling to put in 1:31s. Is anyone else having this problem? Did PD tweak the physics? It's a little frustrating and I just hope it isn't me.

When you say "full sim" are you taking about the wheel settings in the Options menu? Those settings only apply to 200 degree wheels and not 900 degree.

I use a 900 degree wheel, but no that's not what I am referring to. I am talking about when you play offline the load of the fuel isn't simulated and tires don't get worn, when you go online and turn these features on to me it becomes "full sim". That is why I wrote "full sim" in quotation marks it is the way I think of the game in my head lol.

Understand. I do not know why you can not adjust all the same things in practice mode offline than you can in online. Can't really practice that way.
