Hi, I am looking to buy an item from the U.S. and I was wondering about the brokerage fees when the items get shipped across the border into Canada. Last time I ordered an AP, the UPS guy showed up at my door demanding a $137~ bucks for brokerage fees. This was with ground shipping, I heard if you do expedited/express there is no brokerage fees, only taxes. Is this true? It is a headache to live in Canada and buy online .

I don't know. I think you don't have to pay duty if you have someone from the States buy it and send it to you as a gift. Then after you get it, just pay the buddy that bought it, like send him a check for the price of the product you bought.

Yeah that will work, but unfortunately I don't have any pals in the U.S. and even if I do I don't want to bother them everytime I buy something online:tup:.

Works both ways. I bought something a few years ago on eBay, didin't notice it was in Canada, got a bill from the Customs department for 85 bucks, the duty on the item's declared value.

Seller marked it 500 dollars on the package, even though it was only a 225-dollar transaction. I went through the red tape and was able to prove my purchase price, but what a hassle.

No purchases from Canada for me any more!

Yeah, theres fee's. There is a way to ship without brokerage fee's, but its sometimes more money than to just pay the brokerage fee. Can't remember what its called though.
