Wow Doug, that's an interesting set of events on an annual cycle! So, I guess you believe in coincidence then?

Personally I'm not so sure. "Coincidence" is "A sequence of events that although accidental seems to have been planned or arranged." (Dictionary.com), which of course I believe in. But does it have any special significance?

I suppose I'm someone who believes that you make your own fate, and I'm not all that comfortable with events being attributed to any kind of "fate".

I'd say nothing will happen this year...although I had never heard the news talk about this...although they probably have a story up their sleeve somewhere about this coincidence.
 
I'm of the very same opinion that Giles is.

However, it is a very frightening sequence of events. I'm sure we will be fine.

As Giles said, "you make your own fate" but do you think that still applies in the theatre of world politics?

Probably not - that Bali attack was on October 11 in the US time zones, so it technically isn't part of the coincidence. But I figure, it occured on the 12th where it took place, and that's easily good enough for me.

That means when I say 'October 12,' we're actually looking at some huge number of hours here - practically two days - from when the sun is up over New Zealand all the way until it sets over Hawaii, as long as the 'whatever' takes place in the time on October 12 in the time zone where it's located.

Which actually makes perfect sense. 👍

And Giles, I'm not suggesting anything more than a coincidence - it isn't like al~Qaeda picked this date out to cause havoc. But it's a pretty odd coincidence.

Not really. You could do the same thing with any day of the year. There are bound to be coincidences like that.

It's merely stupid how they don't consider zero a number.

Today is 10-10. Wow. There are 10 letters in craptastic. Whoa!

No, considering that with any group of numbers, one can get the number 11. This isn't a stupid coincidence conspiracy statement like that - it's a fact. Three straight years, three major attacks, and the fourth year is just two days off.

Where'd you get the two from? The number of millenia since Christ's death? The number of times per day that Doug seriously considers murdering Bobby Flay? The number of feet the majority of human beings have? A number smaller than three?

These number games are stupid.

I think I'll just stay home on the twelfth. I don't like the sun, it hurts my eyes. That way, not only do I not have to worry about getting blown up, I don't have to worry about being mutated by UV radiation! It's a win-win situation!
