Do you think GT sport physics is good? Is it likely that they will improve physics and AI on GT7?

I find gt sport physics as fairly realistic but not too much so it's accessible even for unexperienced players, but I except some improvements in GT7 (not much, just slight), and you?

I'm not a big fan of the pinball collision physics but other than that I like it. Like you said, it's accessible but also just realistic enough to give you a sense of immersion.

The AI, on the other hand, is atrocious. SuperGT did a reaction video to the first trailer and pointed out that from what little we see, the AI is probably still going to be terrible in GT7.

I think it will improved with the most powerful console, the so much time of development and everything they can improve it a lot, I think that being a singleplayer game it might be improved because many people complained about and a career mode need a decent AI, while gtsport being more competitive Pvp the good AI wasn't that big of a problem, so GT7 is different being even a very offline game and not just pvp

Depends how you view the game. As a sim it's a bit too easy and forgiving but TBH, super tough and realistic needs a LOT of time to get half decent at. Right now I feel it strikes a balance where the really skilled guys do still have an advantage but it is easy enough for the mediocre crowd to jump in and race.

I view it as a racing game not a driving game so to speak.

I’d say really really like it. Now maybe not everyone notices but how you treat your tires has a tremendous effect on their operation and this aspect keeps improving all the time.
You gotta race sport mode to truly experience the game best imo.
FIA and sport mode with tire wear drive way way more detailed imo and way better.
I haven’t driven offline in years. I only drive sport mode except when I take my 20mil Ferrari out.
The ffb does a great job communicating about the car etc.
I think it’s great for immersion vs depth/challenge to be fast/vs playable.
Imo a great balance.
I’d say GT7 could maybe make it less forgiving for wheel off track or over limit slides spins but then again it wouldn’t matter to me if they did.
As soon as you go sim imo you can forget having people to race.
No one I race with has any interest at all in racing AI.
Jmo once you race humans AI is irrelevant.
Maybe it’s good for basic learning and for that it’s good to have but after that AI? Lol come on.
My take is the game strikes a perfect balance, what I think is a shame is the cost to get the most out of it and really get to experience it as it is.
Most people never get that.
My opinion is you can be forgiving and sim Cade if that’s the term used and be the best and most fun in genre.
Once you say PHYSICS the conversation shot. It’ll go nowhere imo.
It doesn’t matter. What matters is immersion and playability and depth of challenge. Imo GTS has that.
Once you get into arguing fine physics points it’s so niche and every guy comes out of the woodwork mentioning his best sim etc.
Imo those are irrelevant.
GTS has tons of depth and heavily rewards fundamentally correct technique. It’s very immersive and has a gigantic playerbase with competitive online whenever you want.
It’s totally unmatched in the genre.
Imo I hope they don’t screwup GT7 by making it some single player career junk.
If they do that I hope they keep GT SPORT totally separate and I will stick with it and ignore GT7.
I don’t need rearranged menus or add on parts etc. I just want more tracks and cars of good quality equivalent to existing.
Maybe some updated music for the screensaver. A better pen setup...
The game is making little strides all the time the ffb is waaay informative and deep, but subtle...

I feel the same, I love the focus on online and have zero offline interest. The ability to pick up and play online, in evenly grouped rooms is absolute gold for middle aged guys with family and work commitments. I liked Project Cars but man, LUCKY if there was one good room a night, if that.

I love the physics but it often feels like the tyres can't keep up with it. Not too bad when they're dirty but add a bit of heat to them and they turn to jelly.

My biggest issue with GTSport's physics is the suspension damping, every car is overdamped and basically just bounces once no matter what you run over, completely dissimilar to any real car, especially one designed for the track. Drifting / powersliding is also super weird compared to real life but I don't really care about that because it's slow.

Driving physics are fine, collision physics are crap. As is AI. I expect AI will improve, but it will have to improve by a lot for offline to stop being the stale, lifeless experience that it's been for 15 years.

I think its 'good enough' for what they're trying to achieve. Further the market isnt really crying for improvements in those areas.

If they just has the same drive model same damage model same AI same chase the rabbit same everything in GT7 they will still sell 10 mil. copies so why bother trying?

I would say that the drive model is the LEAST of their issues.

I see two different dynamics for PD and for Turn10.

Turn10 seems to be getting backlash from the last two outings and their slew of outings the last gen so they learn from that.

PD have had one shot last time and people havent turned off except the natural lack of attention to a 3yr old game they aint really updating.

So what's their impetus to improve much from last time?

If AI in GT7 were to be tough, fair and fast I think online participation would drop in a big way. Just look at the posts in the penalty thread. GT in all its forms has been designed as a driving platform, per Kaz, being shoehorned into a racing format.

So many online participants believe they are Son of Senna. That's OK. But Senna hit the wall and got a heartfelt funeral in Brazil. Online Senna wannabes get a 3 second penalty. Have an online section with very realistic penalties. Crash the car into other racers or do a full Grosjean then the car is either gone entirely or it's out of the race and pay the price of repair. And there can still be a section for the arcade demolition derby as now exists.

Look at professional or top amateur racing. Not even NASCAR crashes intentionally. Well, maybe NASCAR occasionally.

I like it a lot as it is, but always can be improved a bit. Would love to see more opportunity to dial in the car for races, just some basic suspension/steering options to compliment driving styles in sport mode (or whatever they call it in 7). Would love more dynamic weather options as well.

I know people complain about the penalty system. Yeah its annoying, but it still encourages good sportsmanship. So tweak it, but don't drop it.
