Do you use the same finger for Nitro/Gears?

It was only the other day I noticed I use the same finger to use Nitro and change up through the gears and I wondered why I do that when I've got a spare finger, I then tried it but man it felt weird using two different fingers, any how what do you use for nitro and gears?

whats the button for nitro ?? never used it before... i always use my pointing finger to shift and i hold my middle fingers underneath the 2 thingies ( forgot their names :) )

That's the wonderful thing about the wheel. Can still steer & Shift while running nitro.

When using a controller, I never really used nitro. In fact, it wasn't until just recently, that I started using Nitro.

I always back off the nitrous, when using it, for the middle of the gearshift where no power is leaving the engine and visiting the wheels.

But as it happens, I use my right index finger for nitrous and my right middle finger for an upshift.

If I use nitro (Which must of been three times since I got the game, one month after its release.) I use the default button. But I haven't tried it with the wheel yet, sounds interesting. :mischievous:

I've never noticed a problem, but I use my middle fingers for shifting both ways. My index fingers are used for rear look and nitrous.

I've never used nitro, but if I did I'd have to get used to using two fingers. Sometimes I accidentally look back instead of downshifting, which screwed me over on mission 10, when I was almost there.

The index finger of the left hand shift down the gears, obviously; The index finger of the right stay responsable for the nitrous IF IT IS GOING TO BE USED; If not, i use it to shift down. If i´m going to use nitrous, and only if in the moment i use it, i need to shift up, i change the position of my hand, using the middle finger to shift up while the index finger keep boosting the nitrous. 👍

(I think some others 300Mph drivers must have done it just like me before xD)

Cheers

For PS2 games in general, I almost always use my index fingers for the "1" and "2" buttons. However, if I have to use L1/R1 and L2/R2 at the same time, it doesn't feel awkward at all to use my middle fingers.

Somewhat different to most, I usually drive asymmetrically. Back about 8 months ago I got pretty severe frostbite on my right index finger, so much so that I couldn't touch anything for about 2 weeks without quite a bit of pain. So I had to start up-shifting with my middle finger on my right hand, however, I still down-shifted with the index of my left.

During those 2 weeks, it just developed into habit and I still do it that way most of the time, and freed up my Nitro finger along the way.

I rarely use nitrous, and it's usually only when I'm drag racing. So, I use my index finger to shift, and if I'm using nitrous I just slide my middle finger up and it works fine. It's not like it takes a ton of concentration to shift, you just gotta move your finger. It's a little different, but I wouldn't really say it's "odd".

I have DFP so i always let go nos when shift, because there no power during the shift which is waste for nos that still holding on. so my right hand is always on shift and left to drive/thumb for nos. but when to sharp turn that need turn wheel more, i use both on wheel.

I find nitrous is wasted if you keep your finger on the button while shifting gears, so while I used to use index and middle fingers (R1 & R2) to control upshift and nitrous, now I just move my index finger as needed (i.e. release nitrous to shift; when the next gear engages, back on the nitrous).

I don't know if it is just my imagination or not, but the nitrous seems to last just that little bit longer if I do it this way. I like my nitrous... and I like it to last. Hey, 340kph down the back straight of Nurburgring in a Subaru Impreza could only be done with the happy blue bottle. And besides, it's a pearler for getting out of tight corners real quick - nose aimed at the exit point, up a gear and hit the spray... Whee!

I use R2 to accelerate, L2 to brake, R1 to shift up and L1 to shift down.

When I use Nitrous, which I love running in my tiny 70's honda's and autobianchi's, I use the x button.

Mmm.

I own a stock DS2, so index fingers on N20 and rear-view, middle ones on gears (I drive manual transmission with no driver's aids :sly:). Thumbs on sticks, ready for the X, Square, Circle and Triangle, or indeed the D-pad, buttons if needed. Fingers and thumbs also come in handy for Select, Start, and Analog too.
