I voted to keep it but I want to be able to control the maximum reduction in lobby so we don't have 400pp Fezzas in a low power public lobby when using lower limits for hot-hatches for example.
 
If you meen power limiter like in GT5 i say yes, keep it in. I also liked the power slider from GT4 in Arcade mode to reduce or boost hp and or weight.
 
ECU tuning that actually act like one - timing changes, lift duration, compression increase or decrease fine tuning etc - shift peak torque rpm, alter power curve, boost level and turbo AR selection ... one can only hope for realistic engine tuning ... I also want to see engine internals part upgrade like in Kaido Racers ( PS2 ).

It's strange to see games that are (or at least should be) more in-depth, not have features that were in games like TXR0 or NFSU2. *Shrug* I must be missing something.
 
Anyone who went online racing in GT5 before the advent of the engine limiter knows why it's there. Before the engine limiter you had to have a lot of cars tuned to various levels and if you wanted to use a car that wasn't quite up to specs you had to go into the garage and remove or add parts, hoping you could get close to the room specs. It was very time consuming and you often missed races looking for the right car with the right weight and power combination. After the engine limiter it was much simpler and faster.

I believe that an online host should be able to limit it's use to some degree, perhaps in 10 degree increments for the sake of uniformity/consistency.

I'd rather they have something like Xtreme Racer Drift 2 had, but I don't have any belief such a thing would come to pass (let alone the gold standard, Underground 2). If it returns without changes, allow the room host to put a limit on how much a car can be pared back, and problem solved.

I would really like to see something like that.
 
I wouldn't mind seeing it return, but only if it were done in a more realistic way, i.e. air restrictors and boost controllers, as others have said. There needs to be a limit to how much power can be removed as well. It's pretty odd seeing Corvette ZR1s and 458 Italias with their output effectively halved just so they can compete against a bunch of run-of-the-mill sports cars.

Agreed. I think this should also extend to ballast too, in my opinion. I know that's a bit off topic, but still. It just doesn't seem like tuning is a priority to PD and it's kind of frustrating.
 
Something PD could do that would be nifty is whenever you purchase a car, regardless of how much you modify it, always have a "stock settings" preset tab, or tuning page.

Basically just being able to revert any car you own back to stock regardless of modifications. If they took that out, it'd remove the unnecessary clutter of having multiple cars with just minor performance differences (weight reduction/ engine upgrades stages.)

That way everybody would have stock versions of their cars. This would actually make the "non modified" lobby setting more functional.
