I have literally seen it advertised everywhere as a 2016 car.

That's because it is a US "Model Year" 2016 car. However since all the information says it's coming out in 2015, it's a 2015 car for the rest of the world where the year starts on January 1st and ends on December 31st, rather than the US vehicle manufacturing model year system.
