Does anyone play split-screen anymore?

How do you play multiplayer on Gran Turismo?

I know we are in the age of playing on-line and all that, but am I the only one on here that still enjoys the simple pleasure of sharing a couch and some beers with my mates playing Gran Turismo?

There seems to be very little mention on these forums and I am starting to worry a bit that I have had no confirmation that GT6 features 2 player split screen at all. Does anyone know for certain? Is there any possibility it could be split-screen and on-line?

Am I just old fashioned, or is there still a lot of love for those that still like to play games in the same room as their friends?

Unfortunately, none of my friends can drive to save their life (nor do they want to) so I haven't touched the damn thing ever since release where I tricked one of them to play.

I play both split-screen, and online. Why?

Yes Split Screen is great when you have family and friends around. I wish more games would incoporate split screen multiplayer instead of just focusing on single/multiplayer.

I play both, split screen my my family sometimes and online when I want good bumper to bumper racing.

I play split screen but I generally prefer solo mode with turn-based party. Split-screen has too many disavantages :
- you can't use manual gearbox because motor sounds are mixed each other.
- even if you have a decent big TV, you have always the feeling that the screen become too small
- no cockpit view
- no AI around both of you
- I have only one steering wheel, it's not really fun for the pad user
- It's really not fun, the feeling of speed is even worse, Gran Turismo is not made for that kind of work.

Turn-based party is better for me because you can more appreciate the driving style of your mate (and make fun of him), and it's really funny to try to beat his ghost in front of him and so forth.

I played split screen once on GT5 And that's when me and my older brother first got the game. Do I plan on doing split screen on GT6....... Not really. But we did race a lot on split screen on GT3 and GT4 which fun. The only thing about split screen I never really care about was that it never had AI cars.

I personally cant stand split screen. I have always preferred playing online or having separate gaming systems with separate tvs. Starting throwing lan parties since the PS2. Timesplitters, GT3, and a few other games. Once I started playing online years ago, I prefer that.

As I mentioned, I can't find anything to confirm it will be there and I am perceiving a lack of interest in these forums. Just wanted to know what people thought.

I know that. I asked "Why?" to my answer to the OP. The picture answered "Why?".

I usually play it against cousins, they all get curbstomped by any of my LFAs though :P

Against my brother is abit trickier, but he hasn't sharpened his skills like I have, so I might curbstomp him as well.

Point is, PD should just keep it. Of course I wouldn't care less if they got rid of it.

Does anyone have the 3D Tv with the 2players single screen?
I do. I have a Sony BRAVIA KDL-40EX720. It has the ability to play the PS3 AND 360 at the same time. You can pick between Twin Screen or PIP. And yes I can also hook up 2 of the same system if I want. I am also able to size the screens ANY size I want using the Twin Screen settings. For quite a few months I was setting up the B spec driver on GT5 while playing Forza 4 on the 360.

So yes if you had 2 systems you could easily play side by side on this tv without actually using the in game "split screen". You would have your very own full size screens. Any size you want. Without the restrictions of in game "split screen". So if you only have 1 tv and 2 systems plus you like split screen, this is THE best way to go.

Here are a couple examples from my 2012 HDTV thread. The screens can be sized ANY size you want. These are just a few examples.

Don't worry, we have very little confirmation of......anything in GT6.

^^ I this actually true? I can't imagine it is.. like what would be the difference in terms of demand of the audio processing?

All my friends suck at GT, so whenever I have them over and play GT5 I win, or let them win lol. But I do enjoy it.

Same lol... which is why I'm thankful that I have access to high-speed internet connection...

Yeah, I play both! Just yesterday I played Split-Screen with my girlfriend.

Split Screen :( I have never liked that mode in any game. I would only use it if that were the only choice such as was the case back in the days of the Sega Saturn and PS1.

Even GT4 allowed you to network 2 PS2s and play on different TVs which is about 10,000 times better than split screen.

Yes, in fact Im disappointed how so many Driving Games (as well as other Genres) these days don't have it, I've just never overly cared for Online. Plus, im lucky as my little brother is far from bad at games.

I play split screen with my younger brother, and we have had some pretty fun times even with the horrible sound and missing A.I. We both took equal Suzuki Cappuccino RMs to Tsukuba and did a 20 lap race. We are both pretty good at video games, so it made for a nice close battle. We also took equal GT300 cars to Spa, and also had a close race. If they can fix the sound problem and add A.I., I would play it more.
