does changing wheels on your car do anything? i pop 500 on new NIO227's on my S14, and i don't know if it does anything. also does car wash do anything at all? i mean i do a car wash on a newly used car and yet i don't see it doing anything, everytime i do a car wash it doesn't do anything. does changing wheels and carwash has any performance affects? what does it even do?

I'm sure there is already something on this somewhere but let me ask you this, in real life do thos big 22" chrome blingers make your car make more horsepower? Does washing your car improve the flow of exhaust, nah, of course not. GT4 is a realistic game, so anything you wanna do just think what will it do in real life. Psst, oil will increase horsepower as it helps engine run better.

Well, in real life wheel do make a difference, so this isn't entirely true.

Maybe slightly lighter or wider wheels but it would come up as weight reduction and the wheels you buy are always the same size so tyres remain same width.

what does it even do?
I've noticed it's highly effective in depleting bank account levels. As far as performance I don't think the wheels do anything. The car wash appears to make your car shinier, but I don't think it really actually does anything. I think it's more your brain thinking that it's shinier. I vote "no effect."

The car wash will restore the luster of a car that's been either driven for a long time or seen more than about 5-6 miles on dirt.

Yeah, I didn't believe it at first either, but look at some of the threads regarding people whove driven a specific car for a LONG time... some have pretty surprising before and after photos

According to the speed maniacs of the 300 mph Club, a dirty car is a couple of mph slower than a shiny one. Then again, we're talking speeds of more than 350 mph here so the difference for the usual player is non-existant.

In GT3 the little scrolling text specifically stated that a clean car had a slightly higher top speed than a dirty one due to aerodynamic efficiency. AFAIK GT4 is the same.

I agree with Greycap there. I think a totally oxydized, waxless car will be slightly slower than one which has had a car wash, but you only notice the difference in super fast machines.

Aftermarket wheels (in real-life) are often lighter than stock ones. In the game, i have never noticed any difference, though, other than sometimes i'll start feeling like a pimp :embarrassed: if i got some super-fly gold wheels on my '64 Tempest for instance.

Well there ya go, but overall it won't make much difference for normal racing purposes.

Simply put, cleaning your car will make it somewhat shinier (or return to it's 'new' state). Frequently asked is whether repeated use will make it increasingly clean and shiny. The answer is no.

Changing your wheels does nothing but add to the overall look of the car. Also, racing tires give you access to larger wheel sizes for most models.

For real on the larger wheel sizes? I hope so that's almost a good enough reason to start racing on R tires.

It doesn't seem to work for all models though. Start with something basic like a Supra or Post-R32 GTR and you'll see the difference.

In GT2, if you put some sport tires on, you can see the wheels have a larger diameter. Somebody had a thread up awhile back that had pictures and compared normal size tires/wheels to sport size. I'll try and see if i can find the link.

I haven't noticed any difference with GT4, but i imagine sports are modeled slightly larger.

or a 62 Special.

As far as the car wash it does help eliminate drag at extreme speeds; or at least, the odometer says it does.

the special is a great way to initiate new drivers to a$$ whoopin "sure take that viper, i'll just take this ol' peice of crap" heheh.
