Does having an open-top convertible hurt lap times?

It would be interesting to test, but I personally doubt anything would come of it. Considering some of the screw-ups in the basic game engine regarding aerodynamics, I doubt that PD bothered to individually model aerodynamic changes when the only real way to change the roof settings is in arcade mode anyways.

Hear hear. I once fitted a rear wing to see if that would slow down my car's top speed (since some cars go faster than is realistic with tuning imho; this one I wanted under 200 kph).

Put it right up to maximum downforce too.

To my amazement: No difference at all. OMGZOMGWTF (etc.) that is *such* humongously bad coding. GT4, the "Real driving simulator", my butt! :dopey: Sometimes I wonder if these companies *ever* even test their stuff before release at all...

I've always thought adding the rear spolier was just a cosmetic thing. I added up in one of my NSX, and it looked really good. I doubt, and never tested the performance with the wing tho.

I know for a FACT that the race cars are affected by the wing settings.

Easy way to find out for a car that has a fittable wing...

Find a car that is drag limited. Get it to go as fast as you possibly can. Fit the wing, crank up the settings, and then try the test again.

I don't remember. Just crank both the front and rear settings all the way to the right and then you'll have the answer. :)
