Does the Ginetta Junior have down-shift protection definite Yes or No?

Final race of the season , first of my career, got to ask this question as its making me struggle in every race, all sessions.

9/10 times when approaching a slow corner (1st or 2nd gear) I downshift smoothly while braking aiming to reach gear 1/2 for the turn. Except somewhere during the slow + controlled EARLY braking one of the shifts will always miss.
This leaves me in 3rd at 20mph for example (best result - on track still just wastes several seconds) or stuck in 2nd at the apex so there I go straight off the track at a hairpin.
Never had this problem in Pcars 1 and I raced every single event and car I guess too. The other game out now by PD does not has this issue (dont call it a feature!).
I call it an issue as it makes the game unplayable unless I lower the ai to such dumb levels its crazy. I'm on ai 60 at moment and qualifying 11/12 after half hour practice. NOT due to me being slow but due to every slow corner
being an unpredictable mess. No flow at all in my laps.

If someone can answer simply YES or NO the car has this downshift protection (autofail feature) then I will at least know I'm not going nuts.
It messes up every single corner as now I'm anticipating it and driving slower and slower so WHEN it fails I'm still on track. Of course every time it fails,
especially in trail braking, it messes up the corner or line completely.

Thanks!
PS I did some research in the forums but found no conclusive answer about WHICH cars had the issue.
EDIT: Over revving is absolutely NOT an issue. It's only happening between gears 4321 when I'm very slow already

Here are some videos. There is some tire screeching which is understandable when teh downshift fails! The last is the longest and shows me shifting down fine in high gears then keeping high gear deliberately all the way to the corner to keep the revs very low. Losing traction due to locking brakes has nothing to do with down shifting and makes overshooting corner worse. You can see gears not changing when brakes screeching!
All videos are unlisted as I dont wish to post critical videos about an unconfirmed issue in a game series I love :D

After posting this went back, restarted session and managed to qualify 1st easily by just mashing the down shift paddle continuously until the correct gear appeared. As I 'mashed' at a continuous BPM (musical habit) was not too difficult to get a sense of rhythm (pun intended).
The paddle button itself is working fine..include the replay here just to show I'm just useless, changing to this mashing method got me from 11/12 to 1/12 by half a second. Video below :

I haven't tried this car for quite a while, but I'll give it another go soon. From watching and listening to your videos, my guess is that you are changing down with the revs too high. This car has a road car engine in a very low state of tune so it doesn't have much of a rev range - try holding onto the brakes for longer before downshifting so the revs have more time to drop. Also sometimes do your final downshift just after you have come off the brakes (especially if into low gear) - it's a very light car so the combination of heavy engine braking from early downshifting plus braking can upset the car easily. In real life these cars are driven by people aged 14-17 - a first race car for people used to karts. Here's an example of one being driven at Snetterton 300.

That's a cool video except he seems to be revving much higher than I am. I just want to know if the game car has this downshift thing going on. Which cars in game do and which don't? Vital piece of info to know BEFORE heading out on to the track. Personally I'd rather blow an engine than fly off the track and crash while playing. Had to turn all damage to car off after starting this series.

I tried out the car and track 60/60 AI, 5 minute qualifying, 5 lap race in Custom Race. I qualified 9th and was leading after a lap or two then made a mistake so tried restart session - it didn't repeat the qualifying and started me in 9th again. This time no big mistakes and a win.

I didn't have any trouble with shift protection - so I presume your problem is down to driving style - going down through the gears too quickly? At this track you have to brake very early in order to get the right track position for a good corner exit, trail brake across the track and change down late. I ran the car on the default setup and used a maximum of 5th and minimum of 2nd gear. No corner entry required more than 2 down shifts and I was careful to space them out. First gear is not really usable on this car (with default setup) except for standing start - there is a big gap between 1st and 2nd.

I didn't have any trouble with this combo so I presume it's a driving style issue.

I don't know which cars have shift protection - maybe all of them? But I've never had a problem with it in any of the cars that I've tried. I mainly drive the old cars, but have briefly tried the newer models.

Yes the car has downshift protection.

Going by your videos you are changing down way to early, you should not hit the red line when you downshift, calm down with them and the car is a blast. As what's already been said no need for 1st gear on stock settings.

Thanks for the confirmation guys it's a real help to know what I'm doing wrong. Appreciated! Knowing the protection is actually there means I can drive and understand the car better.
