Hello there,

It seems GTP forum a nice place to also share real photography hobby (or work, depends how people are considering this).

Even if I'm mainly on GTP to share ingame pics (here), and meet & race fellow drivers, I'm pleased to show you some of my pics.

So here comes a first set (film scans).

It was taken in 1993 as I was a student. I used my father's camera (this one) at Le Bourget Airshow. I used it with a (too short) Rokkor 135mm f/2.8 and a Rokkor 50mm f/1.4 prime lenses. Sadly I didn't get any good photographs of some great airplanes presented this day. I only remember the fantastic sound and look of the Mig 31. It was also one of the first Sukhoi SU-27, Dassault Rafale and Looked Martin F-117 public appearences.

Nice pics, I like jets, been at a few shows myself, see that the americans from Spangdallen (Germany) where also there (SP), I've been once to that base (before the whole 9/11)
How did you scan your films, what DPI?
I am still digitalising all of our family photos, such a work. And we have sooo many photos (i'm over 7000 now, and i am 70% complete :S)

I use this scanner. I mainly use 4800 DPI on the Plustek (it can do 7200 DPI but it's useless most of the time except with reversal film). Here's a good exemple of what you can obtain. Another one here.

It's a long process so I don't scan all my photos (mainly my father's photographs, there's more than 10 000 kodachromes I assume). Same with my recent film photographs (yeah, I still use analog cameras).

If I had to do a stock photography with my dad's kodachromes, I'd use something around 1000~1200 DPI. It will be usefull to make a first editing and extract which one you want to digitalized with more DPI.

Time for an update...

We do a jump in time and land in 2006. About 2 years ago, I bought a little digital camera: the Canon S1is. It's an all around bridge camera and allows me to shoot again. I mainly bought this one to get with the housing in order to photography when I do scubadiving.

Many shots later (most of them under water), I do a trip in Red Sea. Here comes some results...








Even managed to get some videos...

And had the luck to swim with dolphins!

I just finished scanning in all the positives of the pics i found (had a lot of pics where negatives don't exist anymore (1940-60) or are too scratched.)
Now i need to start the negatives ones. Going to be one hell of a chore. Still need to find the motivation to start.
After I need to look at doubles between positives and neg...
Still need to look at what dpi I will use when I start (Think mine is a reflecta with 4800dpi max.).
Lot of work. :S

So here comes the main reason I bought a digital SLR in late '08... She's born in July and after few months, my Canon Powershot S1 is showed some sensor problems. That was the perfect moment to deal with Ms Dolp to buy a SLR

Kind of private pics now but I can't omit this in my photograph's path.

You got some very nice tones in the Photos, I like this!

But the Fish - Photos are very great as well.
