Readers vote Audi Q7 and A8 number 1
The readers poll of the AUTO BILD alles allrad trade journal saw two Audi models beating all the competition to claim the four-wheel-drive car of the year 2006 title. First place went to the Audi Q7 in the luxury-class off-road vehicle & SUV category, while the Audi A8 quattro topped the luxury-class four-wheel-drive passenger car category, followed by the Audi A6 quattro in second place. The Audi A4 quattro and the Audi A3 quattro also made it onto the podium in their respective classes.
Audi was the clear winner in the luxury-class four-wheel-drive passenger car category: between them, the Audi A8 quattro and the Audi A6 quattro won just under 50 percent of the readers votes in this category. The Audi A4 achieved second place in the midsize four-wheel-drive passenger car category with the Audi A3 completing the outstanding performance of the Audi brand by taking third place in the compact-class four-wheel drive passenger car category.
The triumph of the new Audi Q7 in its class is particularly worthy of mention. In this case, the readers voted for a luxury-class SUV, which, at the time of the poll, was not yet available for viewing at dealership showrooms. Readers were able to choose from a total of 105 models in 9 categories this year, with more than 500,000 votes having been cast.
