I've really been focusing alot of effort on this whole drifting theory. In two days I have learned how to drift with 2 different cars and drifted around a couple of the hardest turns in the game according to a few people.

It's great. I feel like a ninja sliding around the track effortlessly with grace and perfection with each movement.

When GT4 comes out, I hope they will continue their 'car entheusiast minded style of making games' instead of trying to make a game that applies to all aspects of gamers.

It's almost gauranteed that they will do something to the game that will make it appeal to more people if they want to go online with it. Lets just hope the don't go too far and have GT4 be the last in the series due to crappiness.

As for this drifting thing, I really hope people aren't overly competetive and 'racey' and try to mix drifting with racing. It's an art, not a sport. I look forward to people getting together on a track and hanging around comparing skills on various sections. Not out to be the fastest, but to be the best.

The downhill tracks will be fun cuz that is where drift racing will come in. More like Initial D style racing than exhibition drift sessions. On those crazy Japanese mountain roads you can't drive around all perfect, it would just be too slow.

I'm totally down for drifting now. Racing just doesn't compare. Just started a new game for the sake of earning my cars and upgrades so I appreciate them more. I dunno though. Anyone else feel this way?

yea man i have been drifting for a while now. A month or two. I really wanna battle with you guys but i dont know how to film videos, i guess you need special equipment? But your right, drifting shouldn't be about the fastest. It should be about the one with the best technique. The one who flows through the turns. I rock the 240sx fastback type x. I can give you guys my settings, i have it set up so you don't have to power through turns, but use more of momentom and skill. That is how drifitng should be. But for gt4, i am SO excited. I can't wait to drift side bye side with 5 other cars!!!! It is going to be Initial D style and i can then show you guys my technique. P.S. im new to these forums so nice to meet you all

Salutations. I am also new. I have only been on these forums for 2 days and I'm already posting it up.

But ya, sliding along side people in full screen mode will be killer. I'm kind of biased against the 80's cars because anime nerds think they are anime characters are biased towards everything anime. Just recently I found the Initial D anime series (comics, not manga, came out before the movies) and it is actually really good.

I'm not saying the cars are bad, but if you wanna be a little more realistic, how about you dudes stop using a car (the S.S. 86) that has a 13,000rpm motor that would have to be rebuilt like every month.

Personally, I'm tearing up Midfield with a blue mica RS200 with white 5-spoke Enkei rims running at around 247bhp. Essentially you can make all cars perform the same when drifting as long as they have the same drivetrain. FR being far superior to all the others of course

I think a way to battle would be to have a tournament with a prize like and Initial D dvd or t-shirt and have all enterants record onto a video tape with their vcr, their best drifting replay, just a single lap around three select courses, then mail it as physical proof along with a one dollar cover charge for a chance at the prize. The video will be labeled with the enterant's name and compared and judged between opponents.

Matches will not be organized, but in the order of declaration and agreement instead. Meaning, if someone declares a battle with another person, that person must agree, if it is agreed, then the two videos are compared and rated without bias or favoritism, based on speed, style, errors etc... for the selected three courses.

Losers will be elimitated from the tournamet roster and individual battles must occur between remaining enterants until three are two people left, obviously having a rule that only an even number of people may compete, dividing until not even divisible.

I know it's not like one on one battles. It's more of like who feels they have submited the most impressive display of overall talent in comparison to someone else's, allowing a third party to judge fairly and accordingly.

Does this seem somewhat agreeable?

It can always be discussed in a deeper more justified manner but that is a overview of an idea.

Seems like a pretty good idea to me. I love the fact that someone else here rolls their eyes at all the Initial D! fandom going around. Thank god
