Draft House Racing, in collaboration with the Tuner's Pit Racing Association, presents...

Fast February

ymHsz6h.jpg

Who is the Tuner's Pit Racing Association?
That's a mouthful. The abbreviation 'TPRA' is easier on the syllable count. The TPRA has been hosting Gran Turismo events since 2008. At its height during the Gran Turismo 5 era, they had over 100 members with populated races every night of the week. Those here at GTPlanet may not have heard of the TPRA; their main presence was over at the official PlayStation forums. But nothing lasts forever. During the Gran Turismo 6 era, participation slowly started to diminish as real life took over. The founding members moved on and the TPRA almost slid into obscurity. While the league didn't disband, events came few and far between. But the TPRA is making a comeback and a collaboration with Draft House Racing is just the way to do it!
Follow the TPRA to hear about new events first: Twitter | Instagram | Facebook | PlayStation Community: Search TPRA

Who is Draft House Racing?
After participation at the TPRA began to diminish, one of the admins decided to go out on his own. After trialling many different events, MoparSRT (yes, that's his PSN name) came up with the Max Speed Special. This event was the most popular and its continued success led him to create his own racing league in 2019 called Draft House Racing (DHR). Now the league is ready to start hosting different events on a regular basis. With the backing of a known commodity in the TPRA and its infrastructure, DHR can go from strength to strength!

Anything else?
There will be no points system in place for the month. Our events are aimed at those players looking for a more casual league experience. This means that you can come and go as you please while the event is running. That said, dangerous drivers will be kicked from the room immediately. Drivers of all skill levels are encouraged to participate. We pride ourselves on clean racing and test our events before posting them to try and make sure the racing is as close as possible!

What If I Wanna Talk to People?
Our voice chat is via the PS4 itself, not in-game. A Chat Room will be created before the room opens. Message MoparSRT on the PSN to get an invite.

Up for it?
Don't worry about posting your PSN ID or GTPlanet username in this thread. All you have to do is show up if you feel like having a fun evening with some close racing! The TPRA has a slogan - Get Online and Race!

Where are the events?
We post a new thread each month and all the events are contained in that thread. Links to each event for this month (February) are in the schedule above.

Hey, it's calvins48 from the TPRA here. I'm posting this on behalf of the owner of Draft House Racing, MoparSRT. Our first event of February is looking like a fun one! Remember, there's no registration or sign up. Just turn up between 8pm and 11pm Eastern and hit the track as many times as you like - we run as many races as we can in 3 hours. Yes, the Max Speed Special is back!!

Wait... It's back?
And better than ever! The Max Speed Special (MSS) is a series that's been running for a while. You've probably not heard of it because it's only been promoted through word of mouth in GT Sport. The MSS is three hours of flat out action!

Nice! How does it work?
We take some road cars, adjust the maximum horsepower up each hour and have some fun! Of course, there's only one track that could accommodate this - Special Stage Route X. Winning is all about getting your transmission settings just right, working the draft and perfecting your overtakes. The races always come down to thousands of a second! We're in GT Sport hosting from 8-11pm Eastern - you can come and go as you please! Wanna duck out and come back later? Feel free! We'll find out who can win the most 2-lap races in 3 hours! We can't wait to share the track with you!

ONE MAKE

One Make
Date: February 14, 2020
Time: 8-10pm Eastern
Vehicles: Volkswagen GTI Supersport VGT ONLY
Circuit: Northern Aisle Speedway
Laps: 10-20 [We run as many races as we can in 2 hours.]
Tyres: Racing Soft
Regulations: Power - 551bhp | Weight - 1,200kg/2,646lbs
What a turn-out last week! Three-straight hours of a full room and full-on action! In hindsight, we should've opened two rooms... Anyway, this week we're keeping it simple. One car, one track. Yes, we know it's Valentine's Day. If you've got a significant other, make sure you arrange your evening around us! If you haven't got a significant other then yay! We can be your company for the evening! Remember, there's no registration or sign-up. Just turn up between 8pm and 10pm Eastern and hit the track as many times as you like - we run as many races as we can in 2 hours. Get Online and Race!

One Make - Pretty Simple, Right?
Yep. All you need is the right car. Don't get it mixed up like I did. It's the one that looks like a normal Golf but kinda futuristic. To find it, go to Brand Central, then Volkswagen then the Vision GT section in there. Don't go to the normal section and spend an hour taking in-game photos and making a banner only to realise we're not running the Gr.3 convertible model. You need the hatchback-style hard top and it costs 1,000,000 Credits. The lap counts will vary from 10-20. This is a fast oval but it can get tight! Ever watched NASCAR just for the crashes? Watch it again for the strategy; 'cause that's what you're gonna need to bag some wins at Northern Aisle Speedway!

Wait... 1,000,000 Credits?
We know that's a lot so hopefully you can afford it, or you might have been lucky enough to acquire the car for free. Remember, you can purchase the car via the PlayStation Store if you don't have enough in-game Credits. If you can't afford it then you can always watch the action LIVE on YouTube by searching for 'MoparSRT'! Don't worry, the cars that we'll be running next week are a little more affordable.

HEAD2HEAD

Head2Head
Date: February 21, 2020
Time: 8-10pm Eastern
Vehicles: Shelby G.T.350 '65 | Chevrolet Camaro Z28 '69
Circuit: Goodwood Motor Circuit
Laps: 6 [We run as many races as we can in 2 hours.]
Tyres: Racing Soft
Regulations: Balance of Performance (BoP) will be in place.

Ford v Ferrari? Nah, Shelby v Chevy!
That move about Le Mans '66 might have won an Academy Award last week at the Oscars, but this battle between two of the most iconic muscle cars of all time is award-winning, too! Last week all you needed was one car, this week all you need is two! We've tested both these cars and they run very well together. So the racing should be fun and close whether you choose the Shelby, the Chevy, or both! They're also much more affordable than last week's VGT car. Again, if you can't afford either of them with in-game Credits, both are available to purchase via the PlayStation Store and both can be won in various ways in GT Sport. What better place to run some classic cars than at a classic track? Goodwood will host the first Head2Head battle of the year and the tight confines of this legendary circuit will conjure up some excellent racing! Get Online and Race!

RACE CARS GR.4

RACE CARS GR.4
Date: February 28, 2020
Time: 8-10pm Eastern
Vehicles: Gr.4 ONLY
Circuit: WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca
Laps: 7
Tyres: Racing Hard
Regulations: Balance of Performance (BoP) will be in place.

Group 4, but a little more...
More fun that is! We've hit a sweet spot with our events. 7 laps, 5-6 minute breaks in-between. That means plenty of action in 2 hours! The good thing about Gr.4 is that Kaz and the team at Polyphony have done most of the hard work for us. You've got a huge amount of different manufactures to choose from and they'll mostly run close together! Not only does it make for some diverse racing, but you're gonna get some great replays and photographs out of the night, too! Fast, frantic AND photographs? Count all of us in!
