There are lots of threads involving drag racing, some with tunes, others with classes, but there is no central thread involving everything that ever had to do with the sport of drag racing. That is why I have created this thread. I want this to be a community thread where everyone can come and get advice from the pros. This is a place where we can discuss what works and what doesn't, how to get the best launch, and all those things. Fire away.

I have already tried:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=217593

It seems that since Dragging is not an "Official" GT5 event, the admins and ones in the white suits are reluctant to make a section of the forum devoted to dragging. But I agree it is clogging up the tuning forum quite a bit. Not a day goes by now that I don't see 3 or 4 threads in the tuning section about dragging...

This thread will become too clogged as well. Tranny, suspension all here? That spells a big mess for me at least.

I just want to get everything together and then organize it after. It's just a pain in the butt trying to scavenge the forums for bits and pieces of information.

I would just say try and get as many people as possible commenting on that thread to show that drag racing is a real sport and many people take it seriously. It's time it deserves its own section :)

Agreed

There is no drag racing in GT5.
It is a serious and real sport not in PD's eyes I guess.
There is no track,no timing system, and whatever else that is missing.
Hopefully PD put's a real track and timing system in place, don't hold your breath.Maybe they could put a set of timing lights at Daytona.
Don't start flaming me for pointing out the obvious,it isn't in the game,so it's not in the game.

i do a rough timing system where, when the clock hits 0 (1:30:xxx) go, when you reach the bridge(Indy road course) thats where your end point is, after that add the time up.

ex: if i go on 1:30:00 and end around 1:41:5xx roughly i ran an 11.5 in the 1/4 mile

thats the method i use considering there is no actual 1/4 track

Go to trackeditor and create a track , with a T1 1/4mile after the line ;)

Sure , the T must be in a straight line and I don´t know if you can create such a track.Worth a try.

The quarter miles ends about a car and a half length's AFTER the bridge.

There is drag racing in GT5. It is organised by the racers themselves, screw PD. It's just like going to the street drags because there's no official timed drags. You take the cars out to the longest straight piece of road and run them and see who's the fastest like the good old days. No timers needed, just people to line the racers up and race. 👍 I'm not flaming you, because I totally agree that PD should have a timing system in place, be it through Test Course, Top Gear or wherever. It's just not good enough that they promised it but then never delivered. But I will disagree with you when you say there's no drag racing period. :)

Actually it's more than that. The bridge is 367m (1207ft) away, and the proper 1/4 mile (402.6m/1320ft) is just after the 5th pole after the bridge, but before the end of that bit of road. It's almost about 0.3second difference in your 1/4 mile time aswell.

I'll have to watch for it. Thanks for that mafia. That could make a difference in my times.
