Drag Racing Launch Technique

I've been getting more into drag racing lately, and I've been experimenting with some different launching techniques. I was just curious if anybody else does this.

Using the Analog stick, apply about 25% braking and rev the engine with either a button or a shoulder button (depending on how the controller is setup). This will still allow the engine to rev but keep the clutch engaged. This way, when you launch the car by releasing the brake you only have to release the brake from 25% instead of 100%.

I'm not sure how effective this is because it seems that every time I drag race someone, they always have a car that is much faster than anything I have.

Put on e brake, rev to about 4,500 ( depends on car), maintain revs and let go of e brake, e brake should stay engaged, put foot down to launch. Fastest way I know to launch, but I don't drag...

To get most power to the car when you launch, find out where you get maximum torque, the rev your car a few thousand rpm above it. In some cases a few hundred. Then when you release the brake you'll move with the revs starting where you get max power...

I thought this would be a thread about the best way to make a fair start. Somehow the 1... 2... 3... go over the microphones never works out that well.

Fairest way I know how is use a set time on the clock, as its the same overall time.

My launch technique is simply yet probably not that effective. If the car is powerful enough: second gear, max revs, launch.

Just get someone to park in front of the two racers, then after a random amount of time they press start, causing the car to go invisible, or ghost. The technique is called ghosting by the way.

Edit: Tree'd (Pun half intended)

I hate ghosting starts. I always get tree'd and lose.

I use the timer and I get the holeshot, but whether I win or not depends on my car, tune, and opponent.

My original post is not about time launching techniques, but about break releasing technique. I need to try the e-brake mentioned, I never thought of trying to use the e-brake.

Use the e brake if you're using a DS3, as it seems to disengage faster than the regular brakes. I found that with the Option Z, the car bogged down below the turbo's reach when using the regular brakes, but hit the sweet spot every time with the e brake. Might be different with wheel & pedals users though due to better input sensitivity.
