Drag/Standing Mile upshifting issue???

Hi guys,

Background: PS3, Pad user, using the settings from the renown tuning thread on this forum.

I just downloaded the speedhunters dlc and I have run into a problem.

I know that you have to tap the right stick up to shift up while drag racing or doing the standing mile runs but the problem I am having is that sometimes it does not shift up? It will pop into neutral and not go into the next gear even though I clearly pressed up on the right stick. Has anyone else encountered this problem? What am I doing wrong? Do I need to hold the stick up longer?

Any help or info would be great.

It seems to happen by somehow shifting down right after you shift up. It's like you don't flick the joystick all the way, then the recoil acts as you shifting down immediately after you shift up. Flicking the stick up and holding stops it from doing this.

That is pretty dumb, they should just not have any downshift option on the right stick or allow you to remap the shifting to a different button because its not like people are going to want to downshift on a drag race anyway.

If the car has a stick shift you need to hold up on the stick for a second or two for the car to shift.
If the car has a paddle shift you just need to flick the stick up to shift.

Nice attention to detail SMS added into this game, right?..... but they should of added slap shifters for drag racing so shifting is more smooth like paddle shift cars.

So I guess they were trying to accurately show the bit of time it takes to move the stick from one gear to another by forcing you to hold the stick up until the driver is finished his shift completely? Alright I guess I will just hold it until it goes into gear. Either way I love this DLC pack. Thanks guys!

Dont flick the stick. It rebounds off the top off the plastic and creates a downshift. Push it just as fast as you would flick it but dont let it come all the way backdown. You can have it at about 75% forward and it wont register as an upshift

Yeah I played the drag mode a lot last night and figured out that you def have to hold up for the cars that have manual transmissions until it finishes the shift motion, and also you cant let the stick recoil or it will drop it down a gear. I wish they had just made it re-mappable but I have it down now so it is not an issue anymore. Thanks for the help!
