Drifiting is just so impossible for me...

Ive tried all kind of setups that you can find on this page and the beginner drift guide but the stupid car keeps spinning out or revving so hard in gears that it just spins out in the straights. In the corners i initiate the drift then the car is too slow to go forward or i just spin in the sand. Im using the Nismo 270R because it looks cool but it just feels like it weights like 5000KG and has 50BHP...Yes i use manual. I also tried 73' Skyline and its the same thing with this one. My PSN is Skillet766 could anyone please send me a car thats easy to drift with?

MX5 , M3 , 350Z , 370Z , S13 , S14 , Z4 , RX8 , FC RX7 i think are better cars to get started. Practice, practice, practice man. Being able to drift isn't going to come over night. It took a fair while before i could drift properly.

Just know any RWD car can drift fairly easy. Its all about the driver an how much time you have put in practicing. I'd reccomend getting a BMW Z4 an going to autumn ring mini reverse(create your own lounge so you get online physics) an just run laps. You'll get it dude.

are you on a wheel?

No. Not any RWD car is easy. Comparing a Viper to a mx5 is two different leagues. Both handle and act different.

I honestly knew someone was going to say this. So should we tell him to blame the car? No. My point is Driver skill>car choice.

Dude. I told him to practice. I wasn't blaming the car but there are cars easier to drift with. You want him to learn on a easier car than to start in the deep end right?

For a learner, the car is Key. Are you claiming an Audi R10 or a Zonda R to be good drift cars???

Take Mcglone's advice, he knows what he's talking about.

Well we all have different taste you know? Hell im sure I had a weird list of cars I tried to learn with an my favorite was a wayyyy overpowered BMW M5 lmao. I just want to put out there to a beginner that while hes drifting having the sole mindset of "this car is letting me down" isnt good to have.

"Any RWD" was definitely too broad of a term my mistake

To me it sounds like you need to ease off the throttle a bit, that might be the reason why your spinning on the straights. When drifting it's not a good idea to just floor it all the time, practice throttle control and eventually you'll get it.

You have the setup and the cars but now you need to make it all work. You can keep drifting the NISMO if you want but the default kinds of cars to start with is the RX-7, 370Z, M3 and S13. To learn to drift takes a while. To drift at a high standard takes even longer. I believe it was Boundary Layer on the GT4 drift thread who said that in order to be a good drifter it would take 2 months providing you practised ever day.

If you have issues with controlling wheel spin use a lower powered car and if you need more help just ask

I'm still pretty new to drifting, so my word might not count for much lol, but I'd recommend using a different car. I've tried that 270R as well, but I still can't get it to be a smooth, consistant drifter. I agree it looks great, but there's something about the way it handles that I just can't figure out. I've tried several different tunes, and have yet to find one I like.

I'd rcommend trying some kind of s13 Silvia. I started in the premium one, and it's still one of my favorite drift cars. I'd tried a few other cars first, but it wasn't until I started using the s13 regularly that things started to click. My favorite tune for it is the "Universal S-chassis" tune from the drift depot. I use this car all the time to learn new tracks or lines, and then transfer what I learn to heavier, more powerful cars.

It's not the only good starter car for drifting, but it's working for me. Not the only way to go, but it's a good option.

The tracks that I started on were autum ring mini (both ways), Tsukuba, Sazuka East, and Clubman Route 5. Check out vids in the video section or on YouTube of people doing full laps of these tracks to learn the proper line, then try to do what they do...that's how I'm learning haha.

270R? Its very impressive in the numbers, but somehow its not as good in the track.

If you really like the S14, pick another. I use the 200sx (cose don´t have a big rear spoiler), but if you don´t mind about that, get the K´s... its the optimal S14 in the game.

Just use stock RX-7FD! And go learn how to drift at high speed ring the 2 corners that come after the bridge!

Hey Skillet, I'm new too!
If you want, add me and we can practice on some tracks.
I've been attempting to drift for a month on and off.
My PSN is Feint_Guardian. Hit me up!

can anyone help me drift???? i am driving a s15 i had a rx-7 but i dont know what happened to it an d i spent all the money i had in to that car and now it is missing... psn name is da1highoctane i also have a mic

hey man just incase, if you have heaps of spare cash go and buy the isuzu premium car. Its truely the easiest car to drift with ion the game.

Fully upgrade it...
Add camber to the front
negative toe on front and positive toe on rear.
fully lower it
Soften up the rear spring rate

LSD- lock diff: 5, 60, 60 (top to bottom) - oversteer
-controllability: 37, 34, 34 (top to bottom)

Do this with any car you want to drift(FR, MR, RR, 4WD).

tip-How you tune the LSD would depend on how much you tune the suspension.good luck.

If I were the OP I'd go back and learn to drift minus the Tuning mods. Get a stock car and do some laps at Tsukaba and pay attention to the center line on the track. If you keep spinning out adjust the anti roll bar up a notch until you get the hang of getting sideways. You don't want to mod until you notice you are exceeding what the car can do.

I'd actually set up a bunch of different drift cars, run them all around Tsukuba and see what you like. What you like in a car is going to be different for everyone, I find my drifts are smoother with a heavier car with around 600hp so right now I'm using the Mercedes C 63. Find what feels smoothest to you and go for it.

kinda late in the thread but I started with an overpowered car and couldn't drift for anything. I then went and bought the 370z and did suspension and weight mods only, and I can drift that thing like crazy. Any of the cars listed in the beginning of this thread with suspension and weight mods will work for a starter drift car, down the road you can tune a tranny and add a few HP but keep in mind more HP can be a bad thing when it comes to drifting. I still do better in cars with under 500hp.

Tsukuba works wonderfully, especially what with the flat surface, but I personally favored Trial Mountain and Deep Forest Raceway, what between practicing S-turn drifting, uphill and downhill drifts, yada yada.

From what I understand though, Skylines/NISMOs are generally heavy cars; I hate driving heavy cars, the Ford Mustang GT coming to mind. They're exceptionally difficult to corner with - I like using lighter RWD's such as the S2000, RX-7, Elise, and of course, your typical AE86.

Your suspension should be matching the car's weight distribution, tires are all relative to your style, I've pulled off drifts in Racing Soft tires (sometimes without even intending to), but generally, Sports or Comfort tires are best.

And of course, your throttle work; Gunning it the entire way through doesn't work for everyone. You have to play with your throttle, sometimes you don't even need to punch it upon initiating the drift, and sometimes it works best to accelerate at the end of a drift. Practice, practice, practice.
