Drift against or Drift with?

Im seeing many threads about drift competitions, drift duels and so on...

Since the Online mode doesn´t have an official scoring scheme, and the drift trial is not enough accurated to measure good and bad drifts, and even if the trial rules would be applied to the online mode, probably the machine wouldn´t be able to calculate precisely the tandems, the lines, the ocasional touches...

So every thread i see in here and discussions about duel are based on the official competitions like D1 and such...

So i ask:
What is the point of all about?
Competitive drift is mandatory? Does it must be measured to decide who is the only winner?

When i see a couple dancing, i dont see winners and losers.
When i see any capoeira exibition (brazilian martial art, for who doesn´t know) i also don´t see losers or winners.
I could point many other sports or pratices that should not be necessary competitive, but for any reason the society believe that is only enjoyable if there is a winner and a loser.

IMO im on the side of the drift with, because i consider the best drifters the ones who helps me to drift better, no matter what position we are. But everyday is harder to see someone that can´t treat his skills without go in an agressive direction, pushing the car to the limit since the first moment and seeing his mate as the enemy.

Constant touches, intentional increase of speed to force who is on front to do some mistake, dangerous overtakes... im against all that. Maybe some of you must be thinking "go drift with your granma, then", and i answer that maybe i will.

I don´t really understand how the "competition at any price" can help to make the GT5 drift scene bigger and stronger. Ok, there are space for everyone, i just ask you please to not bully in the lobbies who are not there for competition. This is not fight club.

I understand what you are trying to say and there are some out there like that comps only guys don't real understand drifting. Sure I might battle someone but it's only for fun. I drift cause it relaxs me (don't know why) and it's fun to battle mates but I'm not one of those guys who are all serous when I do it.Sure I'll increase speed to try and cause you to make a mistake but at the end of the day were all friend and drifter and it does not matter who won as long as we had fun drifting.

In online lobbies I am the chill mistier  but as soon as someone takes the roll of judge, I get serious. You must remember that people are naturally competitive and are always out for a good battle, and honestly, everyone steps up there game and the drifting i a lot nicer in a judged competition.

I however agree with you, in random online lobbies, people need to relax a hell of a lot more. These same people are surely the ones who 'rage quit' if they spin on the 1st lap of a 10 lap race, rather then fighting and enjoying the challenge of the chase

Depends on the situation like Mr D said before, just drifting around with my team I just get lazy on my drifts but when I'm in a battle I turn my game face on.

Hmm, im a person that battles a lot, or at least i try to... why? Well simple. Solo drifting, i've done loads of times. Tandem drifting, i've mastered a bit. What's better to do, to see how you perform under pressure? When you hit someone or get hit, an apology and stuff should be okay. When you hit someone in a battle, apologising won't win your battle really.
Second, when a person on racing softs hits me off the track, and says i suck because im slow, im going to prove them wrong. Even if that requires a battle.

Interesting reasoning there, I guess from my perspective your the underdog that proves them wrong. I like that 👍

I really enjoy your opinion sir, one up to this, and the first post :)

Btw: The only person i've did peaceful, relaxing, good tandem in the last weeks is MaliciousMD, he's a really cool and steezy driftstar :)

You mean this boy in the S15?

Hes one of the many best drifters i knew drifting for joy, not for prove anything. Great person, great drifter. Sometimes hes kinda annoying with that mic (specialy when the audio is on all the time and we can hear his burps and cursive words), but hes very technical and respect the lines and the speed of who is in front of him. He can shake your hand by his window without make you feel scaried with the short distance.

Oh, about the picture... 2 things:
1 - I didn´t crashed in his damaged s15, but yes some asstards that was on front. You can realize by all that smoke...
2 - Note that he have oportunity to overtake me in this drift. I don´t remember if he did, but i dont remember no dirty touch between us.

If your looking for relaxed drifting fun then just pop by my drift rooms sometime :P

I see alot of relaxed drifting and it pretty much is what i do.. myself and gtwelsh sometimes tandem together for a complete run of 20/30 laps no contact just having a laugh and showing what we can do..

Battling is battling and fun is fun.. you will find 101 drifters out there on the lobbies that just wanna stick on your door and have a nice time drifting

I drifted some suzuka with him, and he was in a 370Z, nice car and nice drift :P My Z4 was half slower than his nissan but i was able to keep up with most of the track, tho he was really quiet :/ Well, maybe its my problem because i have to use guitar hero mic and usually people cant understand what im saying, lol. (Got rejected by adavicro cause of 'Language problems, lol :)

I think im going to buy an used EX-2 tho, need to get rid of this problem of not hearing other ppl and stuff.. Anyways, back on the topic = MaliciousMD is a very respectable drifter and i hope to gain such skill and respect like he has someday (A)

I do sorta agree, you must keep drifting fun...
I also disagree in the fact that sometimes you do have to get competitive, push the car to the limit and if theres some contact, so be it.

You know, knight, pushing the car to its limit (without contact) is Lots of fun most of the time ;P

But depends what people mean on it, i mean angle and smoke, also i try to reach the limits of setup, trying to reach the so called perfect setup - Perfect angle, lots of smoke, flowing through the corners and no loss in speed nor handling.

Thats why i hate stupid spoilers and stuff, they ruin the style of drift man :)

That's how you know it's really me though. It's the character in the burp and the fact I'm always blasting music. Don't like it then mute me that's why it's there. You also missed the fact I park for long periods of time and disappear to smoke. I answer my phone with my mic on. I'm foul mouthed. A laundry list of crap people don't want to hear. Depends on how messed up I am too on how much of the above you hear. Hahaha...

On Topic: The $D$ are chill. B and Bob, drift with them, they're chill dudes. They drift just to drift, I like that...

I'd like to repeat our little sess someday? U against that? :D

I would have to agree with the OP. My team doesnt do team battles but we do individual ones just for the laughs. Waiting on the straights for other people, not overtaking unless necessary and showing common courtesy are all things my teammates try to do. Im a naturally competitive person, but the chill side of me keeps me in check.

I drift for competition & e-glory.

BTW your weekly drift magazine facts are pretty weaksauce. Please start posting information NOT plagerized from the game. Also your week #1 three man "tandem" picture shows the lead car (Viper) understeering, fabulous...

OK, I asked for people that think they have good ideas, for week 3 magazine, send me in a pm good facts & the car, also what pics to put & what not to put. I'll send you the pics they send me.

I know you think your cool, because you can talk crap about my mags, this is week 2, I'm improving them every week, meaning that this is only the 2nd one. The magazine was still a good idea, & i'm not going to stop because you you.

It's more along the lines of an overall lack of thought process you display. Always rush rush rush I want to battle everyone now. So call me a prick, douche, whatever. I already know I'm a mean cuss, but I'm the same mean cuss to everyone.

Take a note from the guys who run ForzaHunters. They do it properly. Well organized group of people who put together a quality e-mag. They also rounded up people to help put out the mag before they started throwing stuff up for the sake of getting stuff up. Slow and steady wins the race...

Back on topic, what's up dalton? :) I turned that green RM S15 into my rain car if you wanna have another session on Suzuka or Nurburgring in fixed rain. :D My Japanese homie Perfume-capsule will always come when there's rain, it's like his calling...

I drift for fun and and competition. I'm more than happy to go for a skid with a good crowd just having fun and some tandem drifts.

However I LOVE battling, the thrill of the chase, reeling in your oponent or throwing mean angles to impress the judges! I love it!

Hey, MaliciousMD

Sorry for my absence from the game and the forum, im having a lot of work IRL. Also sorry for that silly fun i made about you, i hope you didn´t got disapointed.

And about Suzuka rainy, you saw on that day that i still have a lot to learn about drift on rain, specialy at higher speeds. Maybe ill accept your invite and someday do more pratice. Also i need to find a light car equiped with wings and properly set for rain (cambers, lsd and so on...) to also have my own rain car specialist.

My main focous right now is generate custom tracks with genuine hairpin sequences, with the intention of feed up my lobby. The online drift scene needs more rooms with quality (like yours, evergreen and tatjana´s room), and im making my part.

I hope that Drift 4 Drifters become a huge sucess, similar than it was on Project Torque.

Nah bro don't worry about it, its all good. My musical preferences are broad and there's not many people who can handle all the weird crap that comes out of my iTunes. Next time I see you in I'll play the Amp Live RainyDayz Remix CD for you. Can you upload your Toscana track from a few days ago? Anytime you wanna get down in the rain just hit me up. 👍

Red:
No need to put ur own tunes for me listen. I already used your tips and right now i have around 800 songs into my PS3, so im well feed about music. I just would like to understand why somebody use voice chat i can´t listen my own tunes, except the original GT5 OST... The only options i have are mute who is speaking or turn off the feature inside my room (i don´t want it happen).

Blue:
Im not sure specificaly what track you are talking about. So far i have 10 toscana tracks or so. Unfortunaly my shared space for tracks allows me only to put one track, and right now its with "Serpentine Smooth 40". Ill keep it for some more weeks and then ill change it, beucause the line can´t wait.
