should read:

*** is that you also post your original shot to show that you actually failed and didn't just park your car with the wheels turned. ***

I have the perfect shot for this. It was from a really old drift comp I think with the cobra at Nurburg. I accidentally started drifting the wrong way, I just need to work on it for a while with gimp.

 true true

Here's a quick look at a shot that I was working on. I haven't decided how much of this will be kept, or whether I'll use a new image:

I really thought people would've been all over this one. :indiff:
Could this really be the end of the drift comp?

Not my sort-of theme I'm afraid... normally I'd be all in for drifting shots, but this one just doesn't suit my taste...

Im sure some people will take it alot further but, heres my entry, simply smoke added and dirt spray....

DIRT DROP:

Final Entry

Original

I can see how this might not be some peoples "cups of tea" persay.
Still leaves a lot open in the way of creativity though. I would expect that jg get in on this and give us a damaged car :D

btw, nice entry balang!

A 'TUT' is a tutorial.

Can anyone enter? If so, I'll enter this one. Might come out 'good' because 80% of my drifts go wrong... LOL

I'll have a pic up by the morning...

It is really easy to do smoke; blur, and varying tones of white..

I generally look for a pic of smoke on the internet (which is alot harder then it sounds), they play with it until it suits the picture... the hard bit is getting only the smoke and not the background as its transparent and then adjusting it to make it look part of the picture, generally lookd alot more realistic..but I normally draw alot of it in to suit my needs..

Final entry.

Re-uploaded to Photobucket.

I tried it before and it came out like this

It looks like you've smudged the smoke instead of blurring.
If you are using Photoshop, try looking for some free brushsets. There are hundreds of websites that offer all sorts of stuff... Just try a Google search.

good entries from just about everyone so far. wish i could enter, but i have very few drift shots.

fewer of me screwing up.

I would enter, but don't much like the theme. Doesn't go well with free edit rules in my opinion.

i think it does actually, lots of stuff could be done with free edit using this theme.

i think i made a short, informal tutorial about smoke effects before, not so sure though if i remember correctly. most of it was based on tvr&ff's rain effects. i'm too sick to look it up on my thread (if there even was one). but if you find his (tvr's) rain effects, you can actually use it to make better smoke and integrate it to your photo. basically it's just the clouds filter, proper noise levels and the right type and amount of motion/zoom blur to suit your needs. then after that it's mostly down to how you control your blending options and the opacity of the layer so they look right in your shot and be in proper perspective 👍

Still leaves a lot open in the way of creativity though. I would expect that jg get in on this and give us a damaged car

i'm thinking about it, i have been for a few days actually. i actually have a few finished shots for this dating from years and years ago, one of them could be found here
i don't know if that shot is allowed.. i highly doubt it :D

And i tried taking shots for this comp, but i kept forgetting that i had to screw up the drift lol. either that or i get carried away playing gt5  i'll try and get one up here. actually, would my subaru update count ? i did crash after shooting it drift

Screwing up a drift isnt nice... luckily i already had in mind specifically where i wanted to go wrong and how..

Same here bro, luckily my 5.0 Mustang only suffered a flat. Man you also just reminded me of the time I took it up to 135, scariest thing I have ever done. :D

hahahaha thats awesome. my biggest scare is when the tires grab to a direction i don't want to go. hasn't happened to me yet, except in karting. but my it happened to my friend and his car ended up on a pole hahahaha. he was okay, but the car wasn't  i'm gonna try and shoot a photo tonight and get some work done on it. see how i feel.

Final Entry
There goes my favorite collector car :(

Original:

I basically always spin out when I'm drifting, this time I spun out THEN hit the wall on the way out, so I decided to edit to show what damage would've been caused. Broken front axle, fubar'd front clip.. etc.

Actually it looks like alienskin "fire" modification. :scared:
THIS is what it should end up as if you create smoke correctly.
