Drifting buddies.

I'm a drifter, but none of my personal friends know how to drift. And I try my best effort to enlighten them in the knowledge in drifting and how they can do it in GT3, but to no success. How many of you have tried teaching others? Please share your stories.

How many of you have a drift buddy? Someone in your neighborhood that actually plays GT3 and knows how to drift as well as you?

My story.
I tried teaching my girlfriend, using the logitech wheel... she whinned and gave up. I was upset at her for a while for giving up, but then again I have to forgive her for her emotions because it was her first time.

Hm.. Well I have a friend, his names Nate, hes pretty good, hes on his way to my level, I guess. The fact that he doesnt even have a Ps2 at his house makes it all the more impressive. My girlfriend can kick my ass at drifting, though. :( I should post one of her replays. I'll do that sometime. Shes good, though. She was the one who taught me how to do a spin drift.

i have a friend that used to dori on GT3. he stopped .... loooooong time ago, he was better then me at getting lap times. he used to speed drift. and i never saw his actual dori replays.

I got a friend Mike, Hes taught me as much as i have taught him, Hes gettn alot better at drifting in GT3 and we still drift in GT2 when were bored. I taught him most of the techniques of driftingin GT3, while he spends his money on D1-GP Books, and anything else related to drifting and lets me read em so we both on the same level in GT3 and Real Life Drifting, But i know my skillz are better, somtimes ...

I'm trying to impress my drifting fun on others. But, none have really came close to drifting a full lap on a track without completely sucking it up on a few of the turns. O well, I'll keep up the hard work. You do the same. :)

I told my friend Brett about this site, and the next day he was all, "yeah, I drifted last night in my Escudo with 1800 HP! You can't even touch my skillZ" Turns out he thought drifting meant hitting the wall at 180 and then spinning out.

i only have one drifting buddy... the thing that impresses me is that he doesn't own a PS2 and he's pretty good... he learned very quickly and has his own unique style... i have some replays of us on my memory card...and if i were to compare the replays we made to the twin drift footage that some people made here in GTP, i'd say that we're better (i don't mean to challenge any twin drifters out there :D ).... however he is now busy on a tight schedule which has left me to play aLLLLLLLLL by myself =(. it's funny for me to say this but.... I NEED SOMEONE TO PLAY WITH!
LOL!

lol too.

Good responses. Keep up the good work fellas, and ladies too. Its hard to find SOMEONE TO PLAY WITH, lol, so we try our best to teach others however most turn out not to be good drifters. Share more, this thread is getting hilarious.

I have a friend (Spencer), he's getting better at drifting, but that's it. Everyone thinks this game is too hard.:(
I am trying to spread the word but I think I am just going to be "The Lonely Driver":D

wish i had someone 2 drift with......my freind thinks drifting is all about high power and tanking the e-brake.....so he goes spining out or spins into me......

My friends are impressed when they see me drifting in my replays, but when I try and teach them they just fail to grasp the concept. A lot of them have no sense of throttle control.. end up just slamming the gas...overrevving and spinning out... and getting out of first... is hard for them. So its pretty much a hopeless situation for me just like u guys

Maybe girls don't get it?

How long did it take you to learn? Most people don't get it because they don't particularly care in the first place, and then if they do care, it can often be quite frustrating until you start to get the hang of it. You also have to remember that video games build great hand-eye coordination which is something girls tend not to build on very much, which makes it very difficult to learn things like drifting.

For what it's worth, I know way more girls who drift in real life than in GT3.

I have a friend that likes drifting and has owned GT3 since it came out. Surprisingly he wasn't able to drift but can do fast lap times:lol:

He told me about this game and lent me it so i accepted that offer and off away I went straight to drifting! Days later I am softcore drifting already!!

Question to you guys:
In two player mode, compared to Free mode, do you guys think there is a huge difference between those two? When i got back @GT again i wasn't able to drift at all in two player. I notice that it seems to have more grip and when i try to drift i lose alot of speed and it's easier to spin out.

I'm using the Trueno SS version with weight 3 + sims. this the only car that I don't have much problems with but I'm getting pretty bored of this car. Any recommendations? That's two player friendly?

There is a difference between 2-player and single-player. Actually there's also a difference between arcade mode, simulation mode, and qualifying mode, but they are less apparent. If you're using a steering wheel, I've also found that the type of steering assist also seems to play into the equation but I can't really figure it out. I think they'll fix this in GT4. Personally, I just stick to free mode or single race most of the time.

tried teaching my sister in gt3 after she saw the whole initial d series. Long story short, it was pointless. Maybe girls don't get it?
they do but they don't won't prove it

Well, I tried to teach my friends to drift. It didn't work. Then I ran into my friend, Narishma, and I tried to teach him to drift. I didn't work. So now I just run solo. I really do need someone to drift against/with. Although drifting is fun, it gets boring running solo all the time. Narishma tends to want high horsepower and sports or slicks. He can't handle sims, even with lower horsepower. He also likes his e-brake to much. Oh and I can't forget to mention that he keeps on the TCS and ASM. He's fast, faster than me in fact, but for some odd pehnomenon of a reason, fast people can't drift. :banghead: Figures.

Nah, fast people can drift. I can drift. I'm no where in the league of people that grip here, but 1'13 Laguna times arent that bad...

I'm still waiting for Nadine to be my drifting buddy.. :D
