Drifting, is it too easy?

Yeps, so I've been playing this game for a mere week now and I've reached a point where I can master any car by driving it for a few laps. It feels like anyone could do it with few hours of exercise. Is this really it? Just trying to fine adjustment the lines? It feels like we are driving just in order to get the points, not in order to improve as a drifter.. meaning that the drifting has been made easy and getting the right line hard.

I started drifting in here in order to get some kind of advantage for the upcoming GT5, but this doesn't feel right, not at all. Naturally an portable console cannot work as a proper simulator but still... It does help with figuring the right lines but is that all? Could this game help enough so that the time spent in here would be actually worth it?

I remember when I played GT3 and 4 I had to play days until I started to get some distinguishable results and even then the drifting was still a challenge. When I started playing GT5P I felt like playing the previous games helped a lot.

So is it too easy or have I suddenly become a god of drifting without noticing it xP ?

Well, it could be a mixture of two things: You have developed drifting skills from previous GT games, and that the game's drifting mode is merely to make money. Therefore, in order to make any sort of money at all, drifting is made easier. That's just my opinion.

GT PSP is definately easier, Yamauchi said it himself, it's designed to be more accessible, and the controls/physics are not as realistic as the console versions, because it would be VERY difficult to control the cars with digital controls and real physics. As for drifting, it's not always easy, but some cars do make it seem effortless. One cheap way to make money seems to be to drift the dirt courses, but I couldn't be bothered myself, I prefferred track racing.

i agree that drifting is a little bit easier compared to drifting in Gran Turismo 4 and i agree that this game was designed to be more easy to play. drifting was not in previous GT games so they would give people the chance to try it without making it completely difficult. thats just in my opinion.

I don't think the physics themselves have been made so it's too easy to catch and hold powerslides, but the steering is very quick with nub, you can catch slides with little effort. If steering were slower and a bit more ponderous (as it has been in previous GT games that encourage the use of a wheel) it wouldn't be so easy at all, but it might look a bit smoother. I don't think the agile cars would feel as agile though, so I like it as it is. You still have to play with the throttle, weight transfer is well done.
