Drifting Stunt Comps

I (along with a few of my friends) have been contemplating the idea for a Stunt competition rather than the same old D1 comps that have been running a muck.

Now i have a list and basic modes in which to compete but as i see, many people would rather do a D1 section over and over rather than try drifting circles around another car while its moving or intricate drifts between cones. To say the least it bugs me that stunts are a way to not only show what you can do with your car. If you posses control and talent, as well as a good stable tune.

After mulling it over, I have decided to ask you, GTP users and everyone alike, would anyone be interested in doing Drift Stunt Competitions? Personally i love to see what i can do as well as others.

If i get enough support I will hold a preliminary drift stunt comp to see if there are any bugs and try and work it all out. I will also post my "rough draft" of rules and judging if i get enough support. thank you all

OK i have gotten suggestions and the 2 modes i have are D-R-I-F-T (like S-k-a-t-e) and a freestyle show.. they are both mildly straight forward. D-R-I-F-T is the same principals as SKATE or HORSE u call your stunt and if u do it they have to follow up and make else they get a letter.. and then the next player calls and tries to do his stunt. and so on till someone spells DRIFT.

Freestyle is more or less a show.. like 3 minutes to do the best stunts u can to impress the judges almost like the trick runs they do in moto x where u get 45 secs to do ur biggest tricks.. same principals apply here.

Freestyle would need judges. DRIFT might need a judge.. if u decide if u wanna go with whoever does it better wins the round.. either way these are just ideas remember

Sounds like fun, but...

I'm not sure how drifting in a circle is more fun than a section? Stunt "comps" are more for "fun" than to compete. A guy with a controller would be able to pull the moves off way more easier than someone on a wheel, not really a fair competition.

If someone set up a nice "playground" at Top Gear Test Track (or similar), that would be fun but not for competition! The pylons make nice obstacles :).

actually i have met many of ppl on a wheel that do a damn good job of doing said stunts and freestyle gymkhana..

I have to ask you in a serious manner.. do you seriously think do a d1 comp is fun...? do you think it shows any amount of talent when D1 is what 90% of every does.. good bad or indifferent.. to be fair if it were set up and you had a good run/course it would make for a much more exciting competition than

guy1

guy2

guy1

guy1

quit talking

ur line wasnt as good.

i mean its just boring.. and to be able to say tandem with a team as a competition or to try and out do your opponent to me is much more fun than the same old D1. im not trying to sound mean im just saying id rather compete in something more fun rather than D1 is all

I would have to agree with blunt...
D1 is pretty fun :)
If you say "Drifting Stunt Comps" I wanna see people jumping 10 samba buses at eiger into reverse entry, 360 entrys, "Yo-yo" Entrys, Cars parked on a straight so you gotta manji around them, car blocking half of corner, stuff like that. With maybe a "Freestyle Gymkhana" round somewhere in there. But not a whole comp based on drifting circles.

Id be interested in this kind of comp I do these sort of tricks with friends regular on GT5 e-brake parking, gap drifting & such, check out my youtube channel for my TGTT bishop's court track (by moving cones) & my dirt3 gymkhana vids.

I lol'd hard.

When you said stunt comps, I thought you meant like scattering cars on a track, like for example the section on grand valley you could have a car parked 1 car length away from the wall ride and have people drift in between the wall and the car.

Thats the kinda stuff i mean.. im not saying just circles.. now jumping samba buses into a reverse entry i would love to see that would be crazy.. im talking about putting ur car to the limit seeing what u can and cant do with it.....

Plus this is a new thing to introduce to gt5. its not gonna be perfect but if u start somewhere it could grow and u could really start to see it be better... i guess it is a work in progress. im just looking for ideas and support.. like i said its just a rough draft of the idea.. anything can change

Add me Alpine_UnKnowN I really wanna drift with you and talk about this! I'm loving this idea!

GT5 needs a San Francisco city track so we can re-create Gymkhana FIVE...

If by this you mean a gymkhana event, then this sounds like a pretty awesome idea. I'm not a confident drifter myself, but if gymkhana competitions were actually set up, much like the current Gymkhana GRID competition running now, then I'd certainly try to step up my game and get some practice. Eiger would be a good track to do stunts and jumps, Top Gear would be good for drifting around moving cars like you mentioned in the OP. I suppose a few dirt and snow tracks would make things interesting too - see who really has the best control over their car. Kart Space would be a good control tester too.

I always wanted to make some gymkhana events and/or a team... but I didn't think enough people would be interested and I doubt I would have enough time to run it all myself.

yea i just wanna see more ppl be down with it.. the more i see the more i want to try it.. i mean i have maybe 15 supporters but with the suggestions and what it would ential its deffinately a beast to try and manage.. which is probably why not many have thought about it of done anything to work towards it..

yo ^^
i'm a new member here ^^
just liked to show a stunts videos here ^^
here you go ^^
Note : please take it only as tricks ( ignore the drivetrain )

Ignore what's written on the start of the video when you reach the explanation of this machine after it's name.

in case if i was asked for other drifting machines - here is one in D1 Style :)

This sounds so freaking awesome. I've been drifting for a long time but I've just gotten into gymkhana, throw 6 guys out on top gear test track, 360 reverse entries into cones, 900's on the straight into a turn, dodging midget type ds... this would be sick! ^_^

ZERO OMG! I thought I was the only one in gran turismo who backwards drifted. Lmfao. Sweeet.

Glad to know it thanks ^^
and to be honest > : ) , the A.R.K machine video didn't showed everything in my machine's abilities X)
1- the A.R.K machine is able to do about X7 360's if not endless if possible XD , i call it the tornado spin X)
2- it can take a whole lap in reverse drifts X)
3- it can do over 170 degree drifts X)
4- it can do a long RDS290 ( Reverse Direction -1- Spin 90 degree Reverse Drift -2- ) mixing 2>-<90 = 290.
5- it can do in the middle of the turn a 360 then continuing the turn even if it was forward or reverse - i call it ( Moon Bow ) Trick :)
6- it can do reverse zig-zag powerslide - the move which is when forwarded the car moves left & right but the difference is it's reverse XD
here is another video doing 2 objects tricks ^^

and an extra video X)
related to drift points :) . and very difficult X)

please guys if possible just add me and come to my club to start an insane project for tricks with / or Gymkhana ^^
