on midfield my fastest drift time with my AE86 is 1:21:xxx (after ages of work) and with Grip its 1:19:xxx (no more than 5 laps worth, and drift settings)

with my AE86 SS its 1:14:xxx Grip and 1:16:xxx Drift.

my point is can any one actually drift as fast or not that much slower (less than .5 sec) than there grip lap (with the same car).

is that even possible.

nope, impossible if the driver is skilled. grip will always prevail in a better lap time. drift isn't about lap times...which some of you can't seem to get a grip on.

my fasters time drift with impezza LM ITS 1.08.XXX
i will try more to improve that time the hp is 900+ ...my target was
1.05.xxx...need work hard ...:irked: :D

My fastest drift lap on Midfield 2 with the RX-7 LM Race Car is 1:02 and my fastest grip time is 1:01 (using the same downforce). If you drift just right (and not at every corner, just most corners) it's possible to drift faster than grip. The key is a late enterance into the drift, and a late apex for a strong exit.

impressive u got battre time than me...:irked:
nevermind i will try later . how about me make a battle time for drift .... easy for sim tire normal with slick & hard with any tire but must have 900+ hp ....

I got 1:09:0xx in Midfield with the AE86 S.S. grip racing and little of drift on the last hairpin area.
I think this is Akina_86's bussiness. ;)

1:10.937 drift with S14
1:12.937 grip with S14

my drifting is faster than grip. wut i do is put slick tires on and turn off tcs/asm, that way i can grip but drift when i want to. it works pretty good and gives me faster lap times.

1:09:high with trueno SS grip with little tire slip on midfield and 1:14's with drifting. i aint lying either haha bet u think im lying haha. well trial mountain grip slip 1:19:4xx trueno SS.
grand vally trueno SS 1:47.7's grip slip

Slicks? I wish it were so. With 979hp I am forced to use softs. After all, if you're not using the engine's full potential, what's the point in having so much power? Super softs are just a little too sticky, but softs are good. Although I'm thinking about trying to tune it for super softs because I think I might be able to break 1:00, but you have to fight it the whole time, it's not much fun, or I'm not good enough yet, one of the two. Probably the latter actually...

The 1:02 isn't the video I'm entering in Thio's contest FYI. It wasn't a very entertaining lap, it was just really fast. The one I submit will probably be a 1:03 or 1:04. I still haven't decided whether I'm going to settle for one I've got or make a better one because all my decent ones now are kind of old and I feel like I'm a lot better, but likewise my car is tuned better as well so it's harder to stay consistent and get a real good lap. The car has awful spool-up and is incredibly fast, so you have to look much farther ahead than normal so that you can get it to spool up just at the right time. Really powerful turbos and drifting shouldn't really be mixed, but damn that car's fast and a lot of fun too so there's no way I'm turning down the boost. GT3 makes me want an RX-7 really bad. It's not for me though.

dam with a ss trueno... that is fast... how much hp and what is top speed

hey pergatory... gt3 does not include turbo lag in its physics model... there are no sudden burst of power or lack of it in the game... its ajust a cheaper way to get power... if you notice the pressure gauge is always at the correct position for miximum except for hte split second when you change gears... but in real life... large turbos are not only bad for drifting but bad for racing as well... a powerful but more expensive na engine or supercharged one will always deliver a more predictable source of power so overreving unexpectedly and exceeding maximum traction is usually not a problem...

i normaly don't put stage 1 turbo on..the factory turbo works fine on most cars. only mods i do are suspension, flywheel, driveshaft, clutch, exhaust, sim tires...then i drift..

This is true. I wasn't referring to turbo lag, I was referring to the fact that the turbo doesn't have enough flow below a certain RPM in order to spool up, which GT3 does simulate. That's why the big turbo cars don't have any power below a certain RPM, and the higher the boost the worse it gets. Turbos require a certain minimum flow in order to maintain a certain pressure ratio (ideally, any excess flow beyond that is routed through the wastegate). On my RX-7 I don't really see power until 6500!
