Hey dudes, for the last week i've tried drifting a little. I've actually got pretty decent (In my own opinion).
At the moment im only drifting with a DS3. I usually use a wheel for driving but i simply cant drift with a wheel. In my own opinion it seems pretty impossible.

Have u got any tips for me so i can learn to drive with a wheel? It seems much cooler to do it with a wheel.

i've also seen a lot of people drifting with a wheel and it seems that they have all force feedback turned off.
Is that true and how can it be done with a DFGT?

Don't turn feedback off, put it at like 5 or 6, change the driving type to Simulation, and power assisted steering off and just keep practicing i guess, takes a while. Comfort Hard Tires

You kinda need feedback so you know how much to countersteer and what not

I'm set at 10 and simulation on my DFGT

The more time you put in, the more you'll see results. You really just have to feel it out for yourself, we can't manipulate the steering and throttle for you.

As a reference, I thought it was impossible too, but eventually everything will click and all of a sudden things make sense. It took me about 3 or 4 days to hold a decent, smooth drift.

Good luck. 👍

I don't think you'll ever learn if your mind set is still on "drifting looks cooler if you're using a wheel." You use a wheel because it gives you the sense of what real drifters will do when they're on the wheel drifting, simulate maybe the word here.

I only do GT5 with a wheel because it has very close, if not the same, related to real life driviing. If you use the wheel to emulate what drifters do in real life and get the right concept down, then it is more rewarding once you complete even one short turn. Basically, once you know how to drift, there will not be a moment where you won't feel good when drifting, that's why it is so addicting.

Oh and if you have a hard time getting it down from watching Drift Bible, then just keep visiting this.

^Maybe we can get this site sticky? It helps a lot especially for those people who have no experience drifting stick shift or in driving in general. Pretty straight forward instructions for most drifting techniques.

PS: Just keep practicing. It took me countless hours just to get something right. Once you get a feel for it, then you'll know what adjustments you have to make. Stay on one track so it's easier since you will know when to start iniating a drift after a couple of runs. Do at least half an hour practice for every GT5 session.

Thanks for the tips guys ;) At the moment when im drifting im using a Amuse 380 super leggera or what its called (The modded Nissan 360).

I've heard some guys telling me that it is very difficult to drift with a wheel. Is it? And is there any other easier cars to start with?

I've had my G27 for 3 weeks now and only just getting the hang of drifting with it, I'm still not great but i've gone from no hope to slightly better in 3 weeks 👍

The biggest problem for me was going from a 200 degree wheel to a 900 degree wheel, I just couldn't catch a slide at all

Practice, practice, practice 👍

been drifting for about a week now with my new G27 ive only had it for about two months now. so far im still learning but ive been drifting with mostly stock cars with maybe some adjustments to suspension. weight transfer throttle control and steering input is key. still trying to find the right balance on my part.

The tvr tamora from the recommended dealer is very forgiving on a wheel. Use that on comfort hards with manual with the wheel set to 10 force feed back on simulation with power assited steering and you should start learning. Try the top gear test track as its very large so you can learn the simple stuff then get better ;)

I use DFGT and I do use power assist ON, with force feedback at 10. For me,that is closest setting that feels like the Logetic Momo Wheel that I learned to drift with, except now I have to turn wheel farther.

I went from a MOMO wheel to a DFGT, as well

choose a TGTT and play with yoyr car...Turn right...then left...make 8/shaped turns...just feel your car...Your fed back is a key to feel where your cars front wheels are...then practice switches from left swing to right or via versa...its like learning how to ride a bicycle-nowone can teach you how to to dis, it comes like a klick, then you can do this and that and yo just have to improve your drift angles and switching your car on high speed with no thinking how you do this. I spend 4 weeks to swetch from 2 year experiance with controller drift to G27 wheel drift and now Im getting enjoyinment on how it easy for me and soon Stepmania will go to fate with new incomers
