drinking and driving (what to do about a friend)

grrr, im sick and tired of windows going BACK a page when i hit backspace instead of deleting a character.

im low on time so i'll be brief.

drinking and driving is wrong, thats a given. i did it once or twice and regret it, now i never drink ANYTHING if i know i'll be driving in the next 12 hours or so.

my friend doesn't see it the same way, he drinks frequently, though hes never madly over the limit, i think he is over the limit too many times.

should i grass him up? he's been a friend of mine for more than half my life, i'd feel bad about doing it, but if he killed someone under the influence i think i'd have no choice.

has anyone been in the same situation? what should i do about it?

yea... dont let him go out and drive... its really dangerous... my cousin is in crictical condition due to a drunken driver that ram into in a red light.... its very sad i hate people who drink and drive... its so dangerous... better talk to him man... the one he might be killing or hurting might be someone you know or love... talk to him...

i know guys, i've spoken to him about it many times. i've even tried to hide his car keys once but he insists he's not drunk and s*it like that. i can't exactly steal his car. so im wondering if i should call the cops when he drives out the next time?

cause it is extreme but like u say i'd hate to see someone i love get killed by him or any drunk driver.

sorry to hear about ur cousin rollazn.

That's a tough situation. Talk to him when he's sober, because you're definitely not going to get through to him when he's drunk. Tell him that if he doesn't stop that you'll have no choice but to call the cops. He'll probably get pissed and start complaining, but just tell him that he put you in an uncomfortable position...and your friendship is not as important as the lives that could be lost due to his stupidity. If he doesn't stop...call the cops next time.

ok, thanks guys.

I think Ethix advice is good, try to get him to stop yourself, but if you can't, you'll have to get the police involved. It's best for him too, eventually he's going to either end up killing someone or himself.

I'll support ethix's advice as well. Definitely talk to him when he's not drinking, preferably not even near a party. Hopefully you will get through to him then.

Good luck, and thanks for being such a good friend to the guy.

i think ethix is rite. you HAVE to make him undestand. imagine he kills no one but HIM. and if he keeps on ti, call the police. extreme trouble (potentially)? extreme solution, then, after all, its for his own good's sake. he will understand.

and indeed thanks for being such a good friend with him

heh thanks for the advice guys. im not too sure i feel like such a good friend for it but i know where ur coming from.

i've had a word with him now, he assures me he will stop, all i can do is wait and see now...

drinking and driving is a terrible decision, one i make way too often. i wrecked my blazer sunday morning coming home from a friends house. i was pretty drunk and got lucky..all i did was roll it onto its side in a ditch. this is the 2nd time in the past 2 years ive been inn a alcohol related accident..luckily both times i wasnt charged with DUI or even a ticket. this last time i think finally opened my eyes...when you are drunk..you make bad decisions. i tell myself i wont do it again, but who knows..when you drink..you get stupid. ive asked my friends who i fequently drink with to take my keys from me before i get too smashed....hopefully this will help.
