Driver animations vs your hands?

I'm slummin' it with an old Logitech Momo Wheel for the PC. That said, I really like the wheel. One thing that I've noticed is that my hands on the wheel are almost exactly in sync with the driver animations in the game.

I'm wondering if that is true if you have (for example) a G25 with 900 degrees of rotation? Do the driver animations adjust the additional rotation allowed by other wheels or are they a constant?

The reason why the hands are synced is because the Momo wheel has 180 degrees of rotation, just like the game. If you had a 900 degree wheel then you would notice the hands aren't synced at all.

What I notice is the simple but brilliant solution PD has adopted to accommodate the shifting animations: by having the virtual driver take his shifting hand off the wheel well before the shift is going to take place (& put it back at a leisurely pace after) it successfully creates the illusion that the shift is taking place at the same time as you shift. In contrast, Shift or SCC shows the driver making a lightening fast shift after (& out of synch with) the timing of your shift.

Full marks to PD for this simple & elegant solution. 👍

Really don't pay that much attention to the hands on the wheel! I have a hard enough time trying to stay on the road.

:grumpy:

That may be because it works so well. I notice the hands flailing around in Shift & SCC because they are so obviously out-of-synch with what I'm doing.

in GT5 hand are not in sync... definetly not...
thats only problem that bugs me... i hope they will fix it somehow... normally cars have 900 degrees but in gt5 there is only 180...
cheers to all gt5 fans!

Yea hopefully they'll fix that in gt5. If they don't i'm sure they'll allow the driver to have the ability to turn the steering wheel a full 900 degrees on GT6.

If anybody played GT4 with any cars that have convertible you can see the driver turn a full 900 degrees. I wonder why they don't have this feature in TT and GT5P?

They had it, but it looked bad, so they decided to ship GT5P without 900 degree animations.

I think/hope that we will see 900 degree animations in the full game.

Yes, do you remember the E3 video, with the F430 interior, and full hand animation (900º steering)
