I recently purchased a Pinell DAC Mini (USB plug and play) for my PC.

After installation I noticed an error message form Windows (7 home premium):
USB input device - human interface, driver could not be installed, contact manufacturer.

The manufacturer has been less than helpful (check if Windows update is missing some drivers).

The DAC is doing its job and all seems well but I can't ignore the fact that there's a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark on the device icon and that Windows suggest the device is in need of troubleshooting. Windows has tried to re-install to no avail.

I've also tried manually updating the driver with Windows but it tells me the driver is up to date!?!

Anyone able to give me some advice?

Have you tried going into the device manager, uninstalling the driver from there and then replugging it in and manually updating it? It is a possible solution to it; it sorted out an issue I was once having with a similar result to what you are getting

Yeah, I've tried that too, on two different computers but with the same result.
I get a notice that the installation of the driver software failed.

:boggled:

Hmmm.... Does it come with a driver pack (CD or otherwise?) It sounds to me like Windows has gone and stuck on a generic driver; I am surprised that it is working though!

From what I could find on t'interwebs it should be able to use a generic USB audio driver. If it's under warranty (2 years anywhere in the EU) then try a replacement, that seems to have worked for some people.

That may be your only option if the supplier isn't helpful with a driver (which, in law, they have to be in the EU).

No worries; I got the same conclusion as @TenEightyOne, as far as I can see a standard USB driver should be ideal. I couldn't even find a driver for it anywhere (albeit a lot of the pages were norwegian, but Google Translate does a decent job :P)

As for replicating the issue, when I try to get the warning triangle up, it usually ends up that my device actually doesn't work at all, I cannot seem to replicate a triangle with the device working... sorry!
