Driving aids

When I drive on Expert I kinda expect people to drive without Traction Control,ASM, Active Steering...
There are to many automatic gear boxing driving aiders with AWD cars on GTP on London 700PP.

How do you know that people are using driving aids when racing online ? :odd:

In fact mastering manual transmission and driving without aids is faster so why are you whining about that ?

What people do and what you "expect" are 2 very different things. There is no rule saying they have to drive how you "expect" them to drive. If they want to drive with auto box, ASM on, TCS on, thats there choice. If the racing is good, clean and fun, there shouldn't be any complaining. Just my 2c :D

I believe that drivers should not use any form of aids and be using a manual gearbox. But that ain't always the case because it sometimes takes away from the enjoyment of driving a car fast. To put it this way..."would you rather drive a slow car fast or a fast car slow?"

So you can't see the difference in drivers when they have traction control on or off?:dunce:

Traction control and ASM are detectable, I admit but how do you know they have active steering and automatic transmission ?

When racing online in Expert mode or in general i always have ASM, Active Steering turned off and always use manual.
I do however use ABS slightly in general and traction control on 2 max on the more powerful RWD cars as i use a Dualshock3 controller which is perfect for me in general but when the car starts to oversteer out of control it is much harder to master than with a steering wheel set up.
In GT4 i drove all the cars without traction control but only after i had fitted those with a properly set up custom LSD which isn't available in Prologue.
A small bit of traction control still makes cars oversteer and behave like they would do IRL ( where it is mostly not even possible to fully switch off TC ) and still can be a handful and tricky on the limit.
But with a steering wheel set up you have much more bandwidth regarding both throttle control and steering responses, something a DS3 controller has obviously less off and until those custom LSD's become available again in GT5 i will be using TC as a steering wheel isn't an option for me.

Well if you're driving without the aids you have more potential speed then they do anyway so why complain? When I'm driving with strangers the aids they use are my least concern, I just don't want them slamming into me at every opportunity. Further, if driving aids help some of the lesser skilled online drivers avoid situations like slamming into my car, then I fully encourage their use!

This is a problem that will go away when we get proper online and custom lobbies / choice of who we race with. So don't worry about it too much until then, and look at the bright side.

That's also true concerning the speed but it takes longer time to process how much you have to brake such. Being rammed takes a greater damage when you have to keep all this in mind.

When I turn ABS off I can eliminate under steer since I'm a drifter so changing to F:3 R:7 makes the car kick out the rear and initiate a power slide which turns into a drift with proper toe and cam settings.

Hopefully there will be a host option for GT5 once it's released and I know I will disable ASM, TC, Auto transmission disable noob physics.
They can use ABS if they want though.

We all want more cars (:)) in a race rather then only two cars (:ill:) entered right?

And if that means some of then are use driving aids, then great. Especially if it helps them from being a punter:dopey:

I have only begun to try with ASM off and also begun to try manual, as the faster drivers have indicated that they do, and I want to be as competitive as I can be.

Because I want to get quicker :)

Besides, it is about your experience 'in' your car, not about the other driver's experience 'in' his/her car, except that all enjoy a 'sporting' race 👍
