Driving Force GT Driving Lessons

Hey yall. I just upgraded from the SIXAXIS to the Driving Force GT. Big change for me. I have never owned a racing wheel and I am having a hell of a time keeping any car on the road in Pro Physics with all driving aids off. I have tried to adjust the Force Feedback from 10-2 and I LIKE the resistance on 10 but it is a beast when I spin out (which is every turn so far lol). I am not really sure what the "Power-Assisted Steering" option does. Can anyone bust out a list of pointers or a starter setup like a car/track that will help me get used to this thing? I have ran about 30 laps around daytona and am getting my butt kicked. It seems if it oversteers just a HAIR in the corners the wheel goes to hell and starts spinning like a helicopter. ANY help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time. -TurkeyBurgers

You just need to get used to the wheel which will take a little time. for now I would turn all the assists on to help you get acclimated to the wheel and once you feel comfortable start decreasing the amount of assists gradually until you feel you now longer need them.

It sounds like you are using too much throttle in turns....one rule to follow is when driving mid engine cars is that they require some throttle thru the turns to keep the car balanced.

RWD, and FWD cars little to no throttle as you let the cars inertia take you thru the turns ..ie brake smoothly in a straight line before entering the turns and blip throttle as needed as you exit the turns.

You're welcome, I would recommend that you check out the GT5:P forum as well as there is a ton of good info there that could help you.

Oh...if you want advice on a good starter car, go with FWD or AWD cars in B,C class. The Integra, Suburaru's, and Evo's are good starter cars.
