I was wondering who might have a Driving Force GT wheel so there might an answer to a problem that I have encountered. The stupid wheel doesn’t seem to have the L1 and R1 function. I can’t seem to find any thing that does that move. In some areas of the SHIFT game there are ways to adjust certain aspects of it like camera position / rotation in the replay mode, resetting the cars back to default specs in the tune area . Any ideas ?

sjdriver is correct, the "paddles" are L1 and R1. Is that what you meant by L1 and R1 function or are you talking about something else?

When I try to use the paddles in the two operations like the camera moving or the restore feature in the tune area of the SHIFT game they don’t do anything. Yes they do shift the transmission when your in the game but I can’t get the L1 or R1 to be recognized by the game w/ the wheel in the two areas that I am having the issue with. It does recognize the game pad for depressing the joy sticks which are L1 and R1. Any clues ????

Clicking the sticks on a pad are L3 and R3, are they not?

Well when I am in the game SHIFT in the TUNE area, the " RESTORE " function is the " circle w/ L1 in the middle " so using the game pad I push down on the left joystick and it resets the tune ta original settings. Then if I try to restore the settings while using the GT wheel, I push, poke, toggle, spin everything I can and nothing brings up the " IF YOU ***, THEN YOU WILL ---" diolog box that is activated by using the game pad. I don't know what you call that but it sounds like the game thinks the depresed joy sticks are L1 and R1. Any ideas ?????????

I'd tinker around to see if I can help but my PS3's broken atm.

If you've pushed everything and you're confident that nothing works, it's entirely possible that those controls just weren't mapped for the wheel. In which case, you'll have to use a pad. Which sucks, but considering how often you'll be resetting your settings it's probably not the end of the world.

Thanks for responding, I guess I have ta realize that EA has there head up their a z z and I'm the only one that found this to be a problem considering that my GT wheel is probibly quite popular and the NFS franchise wasn't smart enough to test there program with the wheel that is designed for what will most probibly be the biggest seller in sims ever, as well as the wheel that is, what I thought was, designed purley for the PS3. It's cool that it is cross platform ( also works for a PC ). I couldn't find anything on the net anywhare that had this issue, how totaly weard.............

L1 + R1 : Flat Triggers on the back of the wheel unit.
L2 + R2 : Elliptical buttons on the wheel unit that are parallel to the floor.
L3 + R3 : Circular buttons on the face of the wheel unit with a bumpy texture.

The latter corresponds to depressing the analogue sticks on the DualShock3 Controller. If a black circle with just "L" or "R" appears on the screen in NFS, this really means L3 or R3 respectively.

Regards,
Rory
