Do you feel driving is a priviledge, something you work towards and earn and can and should be taken away if abused, or a right, you're legal driving age and you can do whatever you feel like?

Just curious because some people seem to think it's their god given right to drive and nothing should be able to stop them.

Privilege... If you can't handle it.. ie. kill someone, we'll take your privilege away.. See how simple it can be :)

But rights can be taken away as well. Like your voting rights when you go to prison (in the US). I believe that it is both and neither...
If it were a right how come you have to take a test ?

wondering

Any activity that is as integral to everyday life, and yet also provides the opportunity to kill people through carelessness, this is clearly a privilege.

Depends on the crime, I suppose. Speeding ought not to take away one's driving priviledges, but speeding while wreaking havoc or reklessly taking human life ought to.

I think some states have a skewered view of driving privilges; failure to carry a valid insurance is a greater crime, and thus heavier penalties, than driving while intoxicated in this state.

Something's wrong with that...

You must EARN the right to drive, abuse it an lose that priviledge

Back on the point...

Any time you drive past someone walking and carrying heavy shopping bags, or struggling on/off a bus with a small child, ask yourself this question again.

Driving is a privilege, without a shadow of a doubt.

Yes but think of all the money saved ridin mass transent

For some reason I voted its a right, but when I think back, I should have voted driving as a priviledge.

Well, for one, you have to earn it, and the license should be taken away if you do not comply with traffic rules. You endanger other peoples lives as well when you're driving like a madman on the road.
