Ds3 users, have you tried....

Steering, acceleration and braking on 1 analog stick?

I just tried this on my x1 and once i got the hang of it, its pretty cool.
Im making crazy turns and all with just 1 thumb at work.

Anyone else try this, or better yet, race with such?

That sounds really impractical, you must be pretty bored with GT5 like the rest of us haha.

On DS3 I use;

X - Accel
Circle - Handbrake
Square - Brakes
L2/R2 - Shift
Left analog - Steering

Steering and throttle on the same stick? How will you cope?

Back in the day, that's the only option we had.

Its surprisingly cool actually, especially with the x1.
You guys have to try it out just for the hell of it.... It takes a little getting used to but its not impossible.

it doesnt work as well on other cars. But theres no reason why it cant with some practice.
The x1's responds really well to it though.
Ive managed quite a few 4:30-5:00 nurburgring laps without getting a disqaulified lap time and without much practice..
Its an accomplishment for me since id never take the x1 to the ring...frikkin nightmare..
Tried the vettel challenge....that didnt work..

It sounds like potential for a lot of driver errors. Are there any benefits compared to using both sticks?

It is weird at first. So yes alot of driver error in the beginning.
After a lil bit of practice, its pretty easy to guide that x1 through corners safetly.
Dont know if its better than the 2 sticks version. Itis alot more confusing though.

After a few practice laps...Braking and acceleration while turning feels instinctive...
Theres something about having both controls on one stick, especially in corners.
It feels like youre "guiding" the car through the turn. Feels cool

I have tried that a while back... but using a much more common car...
but it required too much brain cells... so i gave up...

will probably give it a try when i will get my hands on the X1.

But the other night before sleeping, i was thinking of setting the R stick as such:

L- for Breaking
D- for Accelerating

Haven't got around to try it yet, but the reason behind it is to simulate the footwork using my right thumb... :P

Left for braking and Down for accelerating? I dont think you can set it up that way.

I tried it with gt5 but just couldnt get use to it...I'm much more accurate now with the default setup. Surprisingly enough, with motorcycle racing games I have to use the analog stick as braking traction even a little bit is catastrophic.

Well at least you won't cause the car to understeer/oversteer since you won't be doing too much braking, accelerating and steering at the same time :) .

EDIT: I'm going to try this the next time I'm on GT5.

Actually you do accelerate/brake and steer at the same time.

It is tough to control on regular cars...but the x1... You can approach a corner full speed, brake and steer while cornering and you can still make it through easy. No over/under steer. Long curved roads and wide uturns feel awesome.

do turn aids on, tc, abs and skid, auto tranny...so its easier.

It works... But the braking is too sensitive... Probably not a good idea unless you can maintain the accelerator straight down all the time.... Alternatively... You could put the left side as accelerator too...

I might try that ;)
