According to DTM's official site www.dtm.de ITR chairman Hans Werner has announced that a fourth manufacturer will join the DTM in the 2005 season.

He did however not says which manufacturer :irked: they will announce it themselves shortly.

This is great news since Opel is pulling out after 2005, but who is this mystery car manufacturer??

Alfa romeo has been rumored, but they are already comitted to the WTCC next year. Rover has also been rumored but it sounds unlikely that they would have enough money for an assault on the DTM. What do you think?

BMW had been running their M3 GTRs around a few years ago in possible testing for a DTM entry. They already have a V8 that could be modified to fit the DTM spec.

MG-Rover  This is very surprising!

We know they want to build a sporty image but where did they get the money for this, they have been in financial trouble for ages. And whats their market share in Germany, 0.000001%?

Anyway I still think this is good news, a non German manufacturer will probably increase interest in the DTM outside Germany a give it a more international feel. Can't wait to see their car, imho DTM cars look awesome (except maybe the Vectra).

MG-Rover has also confirmed they're planning to enter the XPower SV-R into FIA GT by the end of 2007.

EDIT: MG will be running the ZT260 in DTM.
