DTM FUJI SPEEDWAY 2005 GT
I've been invited to participate in a Race of the Deutsche Touring Car Meisterschaft which took place at Fuji Speedway 2005 GT. The league's president told me I would be invited to race in their DTM Championship if I could prove that I could win this race with some handicaps.
It was a 5 lap race with a reward of 187 pts and 15 000 Cr to the winner. My car for this race was a AMG Mercedes 190 E Evoll Touring Car '92 having two handicaps against me; I had the minimum downforce and a ballast of 200 kg for the race, but I was allowed to race on R3 tires (Race medium). Over this, the best car of the race, the Audi A4 Touring Car '04 was starting in pole position as I was starting last.
I've been told that the Audi driver was a rookie who didn't know well this magnificient track. I, on the other hand, am pretty good on this track as it's one of my favourite along with the famous Nurburgring and Suzuka.
LET THE RACE BEGIN
There are 8 corners at this track.
1- It's the first corner at the end of the main straight
2- It's the fast left corner.
3- It's the long U-Turn to the right.
4- It's the tight left corner wich leads to straight no2.
5- It's the faily faster right corner.
6- tight right corner wich leads into
7- Very tight left corner... Start smooth then tighten up.
8- the "almost hair-pin" that leads to the str8.

LAP 1
I could feel the adrenaline of every driver as the engines were reving up and down between 5000 to 10 000 rpm while we're all waiting for those red lights to close. 3, 2, 1, Red lights are closed and the race begins...
I'm having a good start even if I'm slightly heavier then the other ones but I remain in 6th place. At the corner No1, I take the inside in an attempt to pass the more cars possible. At that moment, I knew that if I wasn't able to exit the corner in 3rd at least, I wouldn't be able to win this race. Finally, with alot of agressivity, I managed to exit the first corner just behind the Audi A4 Touring Car while the others were already left behind.
At corner No4, I tried to overtake the Audi by the inside but I resigned since I have not carried enough speed from the fast No3 corner. I decided to slipstream the whole lap behind the A4 and the gap at the end of lap 1 is 0.538 sec while I was still in 2nd place.
LAP 2
During lap 2, I stayed very close to the Audi without overtaking him as I wanted him to get nervous to provoke the young driver to make a mistake.
This guys might be young but he's a real good driver, the only problem I can see with him is that he take corners 4-6-7-8 too tight so it may turn to my advantage further in the race. I ended up the 2nd lap behind of 0.685 second.
LAP 3
At lap 3, I decided it was time for me to push a little harder and take the lead as I felt that the kid was getting nervous with me right on his tail.
By pushing a little harder through corner 2 and 3, I managed to carry enough speed to be able to overtake him by the inside of turn No4. I've been able to this since I knew that he was taking this corner entering too wide and exiting too tight. But the race wasn't over yet... Now it was the turn of the rookie to put some pressure over me as ended the Lap with only 0.535 sec of gap to work with as I recorded my best lap of 1'39.633.
LAP 4
On lap 4, the kid decided it was time to take back the lead as he started to attack me through turn 5-6 and 8 but I closed the door on every attempts he made over me. I do let him pass in the main straight without letting him slipstream as I knew I might be able to take back the lead while outbraking him at corner 1.
LAP 5
As I thought, I've been able to overtake the A4 by the inside of Corner No1.
But it wasn't over, the rookie re-attacked me at turn No2 but I closed the door. At corner No6, he overtook me by the inside but I took back the lead at turn No7 by the outside since he was too tight again in that corner and I managed to block in the long straight and won with tinny gap of 0.157 second.
