I just bought and installed this DVD writer and when I try to record anything on a DVR +R cd it says I'm not using the write kind of cd.. Why does it do that when this DVD writer takes bouth kinds of cd.. +/-..? Anyone please help. I tryed getting help from the manufacturer and they don't respond..?
It's a Memorex DVD dual+/- format Double Layer DVD writer....
Could be quite a few things
1) Your writer is broken or faulty
2)You are using the wrong kind of dvd
a) Does your drive write dvdr, dvdrw, or both? If only one, you have probably got the opposite kind of dvd (dvdr means write once, dvdrw means rewriteable).
b) Make sure you are not using dvdram disks
c) there are differant kinds of dvd you can use. Make sure you aren't using dvds made for a vcr type dvd recorder, rather than a pc one, as the pc ones are completely blank, whereas the vcr style dvd recorder ones have a built in menu. Unfortunately, it is pretty hard to tell the differance until you actually use one in your pc - when in "my computer", the blank disks will be blank, and the vcr style ones will have these weird files on them. But to spot the differance in a shop, the vcr ones will be in dvd cases, and the blank cds will be in bog-standard cd cases.
3) If you are using cds, there is absolutely no reason that i can think of, that the cds you are using, other than that they could be cdr or cdrw. But pretty much all cdwriters work with both types of cds.
Hope this helps, and sorry i started blahring on about dvds.
So to sum it up, i think your dvdrewriter is faulty, or has not been connected properly to your pc.
