The existing Exterior View Camera is optimized for Driving, not Replays. It is locked to the car, with no relative motion between car and camera. As such, when used in replays, it looks "arcady" and static.
This suggestion's goals are to make the replay visually more dynamic, more "real" and to provide an opportunity for the player to be active in the replay, rather than simply a passive spectator. It also provides an integration of Photomode with replay camera mode.
I'm hoping that this suggestion will appeal to GT Replay Spectators, Photographers and Videographers.
The suggestion proposes an alternative (additional) Exterior View Camera mode with the following attributes:-

I'm hoping that this suggestion will appeal to GT Replay Spectators, Photographers and Videographers.
The suggestion proposes an alternative (additional) Exterior View Camera mode with the following attributes:-
- Follows the selected car (as usual)
- Ability to move in close and move out far (using controller stalk)
- Ability to raise and lower the Point Of View anywhere from apparent ground level of the camera to vertically above the car (using controller stalk)
- Ability to move the Point of View around the car, anywhere in a 360 degree circle around the car (using controller stalk)
- The car would be approximately held in frame with a general goal of achieving a "Rule of Thirds" composition, generally with more space in front of the car than behind it. Since this is a camera following a moving target, read the next attribute, please...
- The car and camera would automatically move relative to one another, showing some vibration, jerkiness and difficulty of keeping the car "in frame" exactly. When the relative motion between the car and camera is greater, the effect would be more pronounced. (Some GT6 trackside cameras behave this way today)
- During replay, there would be the ability to slow the motion down (see THIS suggestion), with a control to freeze motion, adjust the point of view as above, then enter photo mode from that camera's point of view.
- Ability to temporarily "anchor" the camera to its current position in space with a button press. From this time, until the player releases the camera, the camera will automatically follow the subject car as it gets closer, or further away. The player will be able to zoom in or out, but not move the camera in space.
- Ability to "release" the camera from the anchored position again with a button press. Upon release, the camera would jump to a new position which would be the equivalent relative camera/car position which they occupied at the time of the "anchoring". (In other words, if, at the time of the anchoring, the camera was 100 meters from the car, 5 degrees off to the right, and 6 meters above, then that relative location would be restored upon "release".)
- The Select button can be used to switch to the "next" camera mode as is usual.
