Me and my dad have been talking about getting a track car for about a year now. He used to do a bit of amateur racing before I existed and all my car talk has got him interested again. So on Black Friday we took the plunge.

It left the factory as a 1985 325e. Pretty much nothing is the same now besides the chassis, which has ~205k on it.

M50 VANOS swap
instument cluster from an is for the higher tach
4.10 LSD
Short shift kit (a PITA to learn stick on. I go 2nd to 5th almost every time :dunce:)
The suspension is a hodgepodge of E30is, E36 M3, and M Coupe (clownshoe) parts. Nothing is factory.

Interior is gutted and dynomatted
Sparco Evo 2 seats
Half Cage
Oil, temp, and volt gauges

Dad showing the car to the skeptical family...

I didn't get too many good shots because there were so many people hanging around the car. I'll have more pics when I go home for winter break.

I'm a fan of "built, not bought" but the value for this car was incredible. If we had bought a stock E30 and prepped it like this, we would have paid at least double the money we got the car for, not even counting time invested. It was a great deal.

More chronicles of our track experiences to come. We'll be doing SCCA trackdays and autox too. Probably gonna look at some HPDE events as well.

Pretty nice track car you got there. It's definitely better to buy as built as possible as you'll always do something to the car here and there, it's always nice to be a bit ahead at the start
